The definition of personality is the combination of characteristics and qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character. Who knew that in the 21st century, where it has now been made possible to travel on Uwheels, people of all ages would be facing the struggle of not knowing who they really are. As simple as the question “how would you describe your personality?” is, it is has become more difficult to answer this because the use of social media is altering our personalities. We are constantly being exposed to new ways of thinking, new ways to express ourselves and new ways to act every time we log on to our accounts. Videos and posts are being uploaded right at this moment, subliminally making others behind the screen feel like they have to portray themselves in a certain way. Even though it is not as serious as DID, it is still something to take into consideration. At first I thought I was the only one who took the precautionary measures of identifying who my audience is before posting something but after reading “Putting Your Best Cyberface Forward” by Stephanie Rosenbloom, social scientists have been studying this practice for more than 20 years. The scholars concluded that they think of impression management as “intentionally deceptive or a nefarious practice.” I on the other hand just base off which personality to show by analyzing my main two factors: the people I 'm with and my surroundings.
