Ever wonder what it’s like living in a society to where individuality was banned? No free thoughts, No curious minds. A society to wear reading books is illegal. Different Personality traits are not only banned, but also troublemaking. Personality can be defined as the combination of characters that forms an individual character (4). These traits could be anywhere from agreeableness, and neuroticism. In Fahrenheit 451, author Ray Bradbury creates female characters with these traits--Mildred, Clarisse, and Mrs. Blake--who helped changed society with their own unique personalities. Their personalities including conforming, fear, rebellious, nonconforming, and even uniqueness. Theses characters also symbolized struggles of Montag’ future. what …show more content…

Every waking moment she is obsessed with television and any other electronic gadget that surrounds her. When Fahrenheit 451 was published, Television just made their premiere to the world. Shortly after, other devices followed. This comforted society into robotic lifestyle with electrics taking over our lives. Mathew Ingram, writer of “Are We Living In Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451?”, spoke about how Mildred is showing what the future generation is becoming. Ingram speaks about how the world around us is being obsessed with watching T.V, they are becoming anti-intelligent. Mildred, surely enough, shows the anti-intelligent part of that generation. Not only does she conform to the electric world, she also conforms to the artificial beauty the world around her is promoting. Clarisse McClellan uniqueness make her the heroine in this novel. It seems like she wasn’t trying to teach Guy anything, expect learn from him. Trying to figure out why he is trying to conform, she begins to become more and more separated from her society. Clarisse beauty is different than everyone else, she has short brown hair which is shocking to all the girls around her. Her traits cannot be categorized. As an odd duckling, she always curious about the world, maybe too curious. Clarisse has multiple conversations with Guy over her wandering mind. One in peculiar was when they were walking home: “You’re not like the others. I’ve seen a few; I know. When I talk to you. You listen. When i say something about the moon last night, you looked at the moon, last night. The others would never do that. The others would walk off and leave me talking. Or threaten me. No more having time for anymore for anything else. You’re one the fews who put up with”()
