The entirety of my identity mostly consists of an anthology of my stories, poems and art. Still, I struggled to let my stories be heard properly. Until, a little more than two years ago I came across spoken word poetry, and felt that I discovered a whole new medium of self-expression and a community full of quirky, gawky, and amazing poets in love with the art form as well. I feel proud to have pursued this passion and collaborated with talented street, studio and visual artists while painting murals for a Human Rights Film Festival and Global Hand washing Awareness Day, organizing poetry events with live paintings, and creating a performance art piece in cohesion with poetry, visual art and original music. Therefore, it has been an immeasurable part of my artistic drive that perfectly supports my writing as well.

It is impossible to fully gauge one’s accomplishments and involvements in the future but I am confident that with an undergraduate education in Creative Writing, I can finally pursue a career in the literary field with greater expertise and verve. I will be able to make a difference in my community by spreading poetry and making it a medium to inspire people and let stories be heard.
