Personal Writing: The Evaluation of My Coaches
Throughout my high school basketball career I experienced several different coaches. Every new coach brought a different approach to coaching.
The varying techniques of coaching brought about different attitudes and expectations during practices and games. I found that during practice, coaches had either the nice-guy or the drill sergeant approach. They also had different methods of coaching during and after the games.
Practices are very important to basketball. If you practice hard and take it seriously, your team can become successful. All of my coaches in high school took practices seriously. I basically had two different types of coaches when it came to practice. There was the drill sergeant type, which had the team line up in the same place every day to do our calisthenics before each practice.
The team captain stood facing the rest of the team and lead us in various stretches and other warm-ups. The coach was very strict. No horse play or unnecessary talking or anything else we knew would make the coach mad. Coach would have us do drills having to do with the plays we ran during the game. If we made a mistake coach would stop us and make an example of whoever messed up.
He would say, "Did everyone see what Bryan just did? That is what you should not do." He would then gripe a little and after that we would continue our practice. I feel that this method...

You can’t have a discourse community without team work or dedication. Say they say there is no I in team. Having teamwork is a big part of drill team. You can’t go to any performance without looking as one. Everything has to be well put together and you’re supposed to dance and look all the same at all times no matter where you are. Teamwork will get you through anything when it comes to dancing.
I am sitting in my bed, thinking about my process of writing as I am trying to go through it. It seems the more I think about it, the less I understand it. When I am writing, I don’t think. Which I know, sounds bad. But, I spend every single moment of every single day over thinking, over analyzing, and over assuming every aspect of my life. When I’m writing, I’m free from that for just a little bit. Until of course, my hands stop typing or the pencil (no pens- never pens) stops moving, then I’m right back on the carousel that is my brain. Heidi Estrem says, “...writers use writing to generate knowledge that they didn’t have before.” (Writing is a Knowledge-Making Activity 18). I believe my ability to write without an exact destination
So far this year, I felt pretty satisfied with my progress this semester. I feel like I am slowly adapting to the new way papers and assignments are handled. All my college work depends solely on me now. No one is going to baby me anymore and whether I succeed or fail depends on how much effort I put into something. For the first time in my life I wrote a paper. Not just a five paragraph essay but actual pages, which is extremely challenging. It’s also been my first time studying for five hours straight so I can pass an actual test. I didn’t know I possessed this level of dedication, it’s probably because it isn’t free.
The contemporary leadership we researched was Situational, Distributed, and Collaborative. We researched all these because we thought that this type of prInciples would make the game more interesting for the players and leaders. I felt that with these principles we would have a chance to show how to effectively apply it, the research we did supposedly told how each principle worked and how to effectively apply it. Some other examples of the research were that what games apply to these principles the most which were for situational was capture the flag, this game was that you had to get the ball and bring it to your side, but when the opponent gets the ball from your goal. The team would have to go from attacking to defensive instantly which show that when a situation changes how a person reacts to the change, for distributed was the four squared game In which the team with the ball had to get the other team out, in this game there was a use of two principles in one collaborative and distributed as an example some people would have to mark the opponent and work together to get the person out. We used Situational, Distributed, Collaborative, we delivered collaboratively and the distributed perfectly because we worked with each other and the rest of the class to work out an outcome since our game wasn't that good and people kept asking if they could change the rules which made us think if we needed more time to execute our game , since we only had 50 mins to play . I felt that we all had a say in how to apply the principles of the group Kent said by playing the game While I went into some depth to try and think how it would affect the game and we as leaders, which came to the conclusion to play more games that would high...
For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed writing. Writing is an opportunity for me to express my thoughts and feelings while helping me grow to understand who I am as an individual, a student and furthermore, a future teacher. Yet, if someone were to ask me how I do it, I am afraid I could not give him or her a clear and precise answer. Trying to find that answer almost seems harder for me than the actual writing process itself. However, after having done my student teaching last semester, I have learned that modeling my own writing for the students not only helps them to see more clearly how I write, but helps me understand how I write as well.
The coaches were feeling creative that day because they made us try all of these drills that the team has never done before. They were the kind of drills that did nothing to improve you at all, but the coaches thought differently. “This one will help you with your awareness of

I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have always been devoted to writing. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has never been my forte. I have received A’s, B’s, C’s, and D’s on essays. I truly never found my voice in writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me despise writing. Then I started to believe that writing is not important. I came to conclusion that writing is not important ,because I am going to be a Math major. I had the mindset that I am not a writer, and will never be a writer. But, my thoughts about writing changed when I started taking English at CSUN.
What do people have to do to become a teacher , coach or both? Let me take you back in time. Back then the learned men of ancient times, by default became the teachers. Priests and prophets taught children of the wealthy and noble, the skills to take up their roles as leaders and businessmen. So in other words, people who had knowledge they passed it down. After that knowledge being passed down those people would tell someone else and so on. Back then people with power like priests and king , told people things and people trusted them and of course they listened to them.
In today’s society being a coach can be extremely complicated especially compared to earlier years. Coaching requires not only many technical and personal skills but also has to include positive psychology that will affect all athletes regardless of gender, age, and race. After reading various articles this leads me to the question, what is a coach? How do coaches differ from one another? In addition are we forgetting the importance of not only coaching but the sports psychology aspect of coaching overall? Regardless of what you may have read or heard I believe not only do all coaches have their own coaching style but every coaching technique and style is different. Coaching styles and positive psychology are two techniques that can provide

Physical education instruction for students today is vital to the overall health and well-being of each student in our schools today (Jensen, 2003). Proper scheduling can be difficult as there are many demands on athletic facilities as they are used as multipurpose facilities to hosting athletic events (C. Curtis, personal communication, May 6, 2014). There are a few types of scheduling that schools currently will use for arranging school calendars; traditional, flexible, and block (Jensen, 2003). Traditional scheduling consists of a teacher to pupil ratio and is used most often for the majority of subjects and is simple to create classroom...
