From an early age in my life I have always enjoyed helping others. From helping my fellow classmates with assignments in early grades to now offering advice to friends going through stressors in life. Helping is a very active part of my life. As a young girl, I knew that helping people is exactly what I wanted to do in my future career. I’ve been told throughout my childhood many times that I was an old soul and I have a special gift when it comes to relating to others. I never realized how true that was until the older I got. Family, friends, and often strangers feel safe in confiding in me. By becoming a social worker, I will be able to fulfill my lifelong passion of helping others and being an outlet for those in need. Older adults have always been a major part of my life. Since my great grandparents spent a majority of my first four years of life with me I quickly adapted to their ways. I was never really a young child, many say I was very mature for my age. The older adult population are constant teachers and they are the people whom we should learn as much as we can from while we have the time. I look forward to serving the aging community as a social worker in my career. Private practice is also an area of social work I hope to someday work in. Bringing awareness to organ donation is now something that is near and dear to my heart. Through the personal journey of my granddaddy to seeing and learning of others who undergo various organ transplants it amazes me. We as humans have the power to give back to others even after we are gone. The results …show more content…

In order for me to achieve this plan he has laid out before me he equipped me with many gifts and talents. One is being accountable, my clients as well as my future employers will be able to count on me as a social worker to fulfill my duties to the absolute best of my ability. Another gift I have been blessed with is the attitude of dedication, in any line of work you have to be dedicated to your job when it involves people 's lives and matters that are important to them/ I will be dedicated to provide them the best help I can. Resiliency is a gift I feel God equips anyone in the helping profession with, through my struggles I have gained personal insight that while life is tough and will not knock us down from time to time we must get back up and keep pressing onward. The job of a social worker will require this strength because we never know what we will face and we have to be prepared for what is thrown at us. We will also be the support of our clients to keep moving forward and not back on the trials of life. Having a servant’s heart through compassion and empathy I will be the pillar of support that my clients and fellow colleagues will need through the daily tasks of the job. I have also been bestowed with an open mind, I am well aware that everyone is not the same as me. College has provided me with the opportunity to grow in my own thoughts and expressions. To
