While at LT Security Inc., I served as a member of the sales team during which I participated in the development and execution of various e-mail based marketing campaigns as well as other tailor-made promotional strategies. Testimony to my worth in the sales team was the fact that I consistently exceeded the sales goal set in most marketing campaigns. However, despite my evident strength in marketing, the tasks had their fair share of challenges. What this experience has inspired in me in the long run has been a strong urge to increase my skill and wit in the area of marketing and the Master of Integrated Marketing course at New York University fits the bill as a tool to make me an ideal and relevant marketer. Topics such as digital Marketing covered in the course spark a thirst in me that will only be quenched after I am enrolled. Apart from the experience I have gained at LT Security Inc., my various internship positions have also exposed me to eye-opening responsibilities. For example, as a marketing intern at MySelf New York, I engaged in organized discussions with customers as well as colleagues in the pursuit of better promotional and marketing strategies. I have also gained experience with other matters such as employee coaching and assistance, employee relations, communication and implementation of policies and procedures during my time at Stony Brook University as intern in arts management and at Yunnan Changji Real Estate Co. But as my internship grew closer to the end date in early September, I began to reflect on my experiences with a “Big Four” accounting firm. After only three months, I had gained exposure to a handful of very different, and very large client work and worked with some very intelligent individuals throughout. I had made some good friends and several acquaintances while interning at KPMG and had spent some very rewarding time helping out the local community volunteering. I had found a passion working with partnerships and forming client relationships.

Throughout the years, the Scarlet Knights have surely made a name for themselves in New Jersey. I have yet to decide on a specific major, but attending Rutgers will allow me to get a taste of the many majors the University has to offer. Benefiting from Rutgers is not the question. The real question is how would one not? A degree from Rutgers has a such a strong value. Not just that, but there is a lot of involved with the school and students.

At the start of this module, I had no idea what to expect. When I heard the term “Marketing”, only one thing came to my mind: presentations. When I used to be in school, I remembered vaguely that my presentation skills weren’t exactly even close to Suze Orman, who is considered to be America’s most motivational speaker. In fact, they were so bad, I wasn’t sure of doing this course in the beginning. But then it wasn’t like I had a choice. I had opted for BA Hons. Business Management and the course came along with a module named Marketing.
As a first-year Master of Business Administration student at Brock University with three years of work experience, I’d love to bring my expertise and enthusiasm to the Tim Hortons. Eat fresh. With 2 mere words I have made you think of getting a 5 dollar footlong from America’s largest restaurant chain due only to great marketing. Business is conglomerations of numbers, tedious analysis, and risky result; but in this boring cloud of excel spreadsheets and pie charts is an oasis where creativity can be released: Marketing. I want to pursue a career in marketing and sales in business because I have the traits, the desire, the educational resources, and the data on my side to become successful in the field and more importantly, in life.
