Teacher Interview
1. What made you want to become a teacher? What makes you stick with it?
Ms. Lippart has always enjoyed working with children, as well as being a leader among people. She never really wanted to work at a desk and sit by herself all day; she prefers to interact with people. She also has a real passion for teaching, and loves to see the light bulb go off in children’s heads once they finally begin to understand what is being taught in classrooms. One idea she really enjoys is how everyday is different in teaching. Though there may be the same produces and schedules everyday, the adventures are always different.
Ms. Lippart has stayed teaching so far because she loves where she works. She had always thought she would teach at an urban school because she grew up in Raleigh, but she absolutely loves Meat Camp and the small family-feel of the school. She loves that this school has very little politics and stress about the tests with all of the teachers. She says that she would not love school as much as she does if it was just all about testing students. One of her favorite parts about being a teacher is getting to be creative everyday.
2. In your experience, what characteristics help interns be most successful in Block 2? Is there specific advice that you have for me based on previous experience?
The main piece of advice that she gave me was to have TIME MANGAGMENT. She also she said it was important to set goals for yourself and to make sure that you meet those goals. She said the students that make the goals and follow through are generally much happier and more on top of their work load.
3. When you have had problems with interns in the past, what tended to cause those problems? How can I avoid th...

...th this idea, Ms. Lippart is very willing to answer any of my questions I have for her about how she taught a lesson or why she grouped students a certain way. This is going to be particularly helpful for me when I start planning my own lesson. Through her answers I will be able to follow her teaching and have little disturbance on the students learning environment. Through this allowing me more time to devote to making in-depth and interactive lessons for the students in my classroom.
Overall, I believe this interview with Ms. Lippart went really well; I think that we are off to a great start of the year. Because Ms. Lippart and I talked about the expectations and procedures she expects me to follow in the classroom, I can now able begin to closely observing how Ms. Lippart teaches as well as develop my own skills and ideas on becoming a well rounded educator.
In my experiences with JAFCO beginning with the interview, I did not feel that my supervisor was enthusiastic about having to guide an intern or attempt to mold one. In addition, I do not believe that my supervisor Wendy was clear about anything that needed to be taken care of including the location of my placement. However, I will take responsibility for the lack of initiation to have clear and precise understanding of my role in that organization. In retrospect, this organization needs to become more culturally competent and aware of the underhanded behavior that is being displayed to individuals of other ethnicity. Even though I have had many misfortunes with this agency I have learn the importance of self-worth, confidence, professionalism, and communication and time management.
What made you decide to go into teaching? 4. What are a few things you would do to build positive relationships with your students? Parents? Co-workers?
There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
The tasks that I will be doing at the agency are intakes, exits, phone calls to clients, and filing. On my first week there one of the interns went over the days/times of the group meetings, how to call clients to make up classes, and looked over an intake form for domestic violence clients. This intern made me feel extremely comfortable by saying that I could go to her if I ever needed help with anything. This made me happy, because I have always been afraid to ask for help and knowing that I can have someone there to go to is
I believe that after interviewing this educator, I have a better understanding of the changes that occurred in my future field. Though I am aware of the history of special education and education in general, I think that it is something different completely to be told about the changes in education from someone who
To begin, the focus should be on the benefits of students who have the ability to deliver a unique outlook and perhaps improved or enhanced business ideas. Especially with today’s modern technology, interns are able to bring ideas that may help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of company practices through the use of t...
To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
I believe that teaching is the single most important aspect of life. Not only is teaching an imperative career, but teaching outside of the profession is very important. People gain knowledge of new things every day and learning is something that continues throughout your whole life, in and out of school. My personal experiences in life have made me want to be a teacher. These influences come from my family and teachers that I have had. My aunt taught elementary school and is now the superintendent of education in our county; my younger sister let me teach her as we were growing up and a combination of these inspired me to pursue a career in education. I had many teachers that made me want to learn, these are people that I have a great deal of respect for. These are people that made me want to teach.
Success is something individuals aim for through all stages of life. Succeeding at university may entail passing courses, achieving learning goals and consequently graduating, while gaining some experience and exposure. At work, success could take a different form of gaining a job, accomplishing goals, and seeking promotions. While the definition of success may differ for university students and employees at an organisation, the basic principles and skills required are very similar. Individuals require both intrapersonal and interpersonal perception in order to achieve success, whether at university or work. Skills such as self-regulation, self-monitoring, implementing goals and strategies to achieve those goals, as well as harnessing good communication skills and formal relationships are key factors to success. It is with these perceptions that individuals can gain skills that can help overcome barriers to succeed.
My cooperating teacher has been employed in the field of education for 19 plus years. She has been in her current position as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at the Lighthouse Learning Center for 12 years. Observing a teacher who has so many years of experience in the classroom is very beneficial. She shared with me this week her teaching philosophy that has evolved from her many years in the classroom. The components of her philosophy include a focus on people, strategies, and tools.
We might have an excellent study facility, an inspiring facilitator, a good and understandable employer or management but none of this thing makes different and matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. From the small acorns great oak trees grows, You got to train for it, work for it, learn for it, put all the effort and focus with your goal to succeed as quotes by Wiston Churchill “You are master of your fate”. Thank You.
In conclusion, Mrs. Doe displayed how she uses classroom management and reciprocal teaching as well as group activities to allow children to learn from each other and become models for each other that Vygotsky believed was important for learning. Structure is important to her, but she is also able to keep it fun as well. She said “you joke, laugh, talk, read and do the math.” But more than that, her passion keeps her motivated and her sense of self-efficacy is obvious to me and her students will see it too.
Teacher Interview summary: I had the pleasure of interviewing the 3rd grade social studies teacher Mr. Columbie. As I observed Mr. Columbie on a weekly basis, I would constantly ask him questions on how he taught social studies in his classroom and what strategies he uses. Mr. Columbie informed me that he teaches social studies in his classroom once a week, but now that the students are preparing for the FSA test he has not been teaching social studies. He explained that the schools main focus is that every teacher is teaching and building students math and reading skills. He also explained to me that he can get in trouble with the principle if he were to teach a full social studies lesson in his classroom. He told me that for social studies he is giving his students reading passages and the students are answering comprehension questions at the end of the reading.
Throughout my internship, I was well trained and did receive a fruitful experience. The real working environment prepared me for future employment after my graduation. However, I did encounter some problems, which I gradually managed to deal with. Whatever happens, productivity increases by keeping a positive attitude.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
