She had a rash on her arm, lost a great amount of hair, and was in pain the whole time. She fought through it ,because us kids were the reason why she wanted to live. After 3 years, chemotherapy was a success. Thanks to all of the doctors and nurses they have saved my mom’s life and answer the question I had since a little girl. I want to achieve the goal of becoming a doctor to make an impact on others’ life and give back to the community, by helping kids and adults achieve a long lasting life.
Breast cancer continues to be the leading cause of death for middle aged women. In the past year, there were over 194,000 new cases of breast cancer in the U.S., approximately 20% of which did not access treatment in time despite the availability of educational resources. It’s malignant foundation causes it to also conquer surrounding tissues if left untreated.

I still thank God to this day. She is now sitting with us at home, alive and well. The recovery process was long and hard, but she managed to pull through for her 5 kids. I consider my mom to be a very lucky women with God by her side. Having conquered stage 3 breast cancer is something to be proud of.
This is why doctors encourage their patients to come to their follow-ups. Doctors aren’t really sure that if the disease doesn’t recur in a few years it doesn’t mean it won’t. This cancer is slow growing so the disease may recur in about 10 to 20 years; however time does affect the likelihood of recurrence so if there are no signs of the cancer in the x-ray then there is a chance the disease won’t recur. Doctors and medical professionals can offer only so much support and every woman who has been diagnosed with is deals with the consequences of treatment and diagnosis no matter how strong she is needs emotional support.

After being in the hospital for about two months, Jenn finally returned home two days before Christmas, not making for a great holiday, but definitely a hopeful one. These days she receives chemotherapy every three weeks at Sloan-Kettering Memorial in New York City and just recently got test results showing she is free of cancer. Although this story does not include death or life long suffering, this isn't the case for everyone. This experience has altered my life and the lives of family, friends, and a great deal of our community, raising awareness of the fact that we need to find a cure for people who are going to suffer everyday for the rest of their lives.
