Personal Reflection: Bright Pink: High-Risk Women

I completed training to be a PinkPal mentor through the organization Bright Pink in 2014. As a PinkPal mentor, I provide guidance and support to other high-risk women by sharing my personal experience and listening to their feelings and concerns about being high risk. I currently mentor three high-risk women and greatly value the opportunity to share in their journey. Working as a mentor has showed me the value in empathy and connection.

Through Grand River Connection we brought together young professionals to develop a strong network of support for Lansing 's workforce. Camping with my horse is my favorite hobby and I rarely missed a weekend. I helped the group organize a yearly “Healthy Horse” clinic with a local veterinarian where members could receive discounted vaccinations. As a member of CCEYF, I had the opportunity to explore the many trails in northern Michigan on horseback and advance my horsemanship at our summer clinics.

As the New Member Vice- President, my role was to ensure all my fellow pledges fulfilled their responsibilities and maintained good academic standing. As the Risk Management Chair, it was my responsibly to make sure members upheld the Code of Regulations. I was in charge of implementing the Risk Management Program if an emergency or tragedy arose. When accidents occurred with a member, I compiled a report within 24 hours and contacted the Executive Board.

As a member of College Republicans, I actively supported the Republican Party through get-out-the-vote efforts on campus, running mock elections, and employing guest speakers to come educate at social events. While a member, I participated in multiple phone drives to increase party support and helped to organize recruitment activities on campus.

While taking Spanish in High School I was also a member of the Spanish Club where I learned more about Hispanic Culture and broadened my Spanish language
