The key to achieving almost anything in life is made up of three great principles: self confidence, honesty, and positivity. I have learned that having self confidence is very important. The more self confidence I have, the more I value myself and my abilities in achieving anything I desire. Having self confidence is critical in the nursing practice. A nurse has to overcome many challenges and having self confidence will help to feel mentally and physically stronger. One of the biggest role models in my life is my mom. She is my support system and my backbone. I will be forever grateful to her for instilling good morals and values in me. My mom’s dream was to become a nurse. However, due to family situations, she could not fulfill that dream of hers. And right now, her biggest dream is for me to pursue a degree in nursing. Honesty is very essential in the nursing practice. Nurses always have to choose between honesty and dishonesty to protect themselves, their patients, or even their coworkers. However, being dishonest goes against the trust placed on nurses (Davidhizar). Dishonesty also violates the moral and ethical expectations of nurses. One of my personal goals is trying to become a better person by being more honest, and I know that this principle will help me make wise choices in my nursing career. My cousin, Anita Habib, who is a Nurse Practitioner, influences me in many ways when it comes to nursing practices. She has inspired me to become a nurse because of the way I have seen her help people and her willingness to serve others. She always encourages me to be the best nurse that I can be and hopefully I will follow in her footsteps one
