In today’s progressive world new religious have emerge in the 21st century by bringing with them a new faith, perspectives, practices and more. However, these new religions tend to look miserable upon by the older religions such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam and other religions. Therefore, non- religions people as well as religions people call these new Religions were insulted as “cults”, connected them with malevolent, angers, faiths, and outrageous. This kind relationship is very similar to job old employers getting praise and new employers getting no praise, just because they are new and inexperience. It could also be because usually religions do not incline to accept religions that anticipate them.
Personally, me as a religion person in the Hinduism community, I do have faith in my religion with all my sensitivity and I will continue to have belief in my religions as long as I live my life. However, this also does not mean that I am a bias against new religions because even though I believe in different religions I do respect their conviction and I do not think they are false either. Therefore, everyone has a freedom to choose what they want to believe in, whatever they want to believe in; however, there are some people who thinks believing in new religions can help them in their lives, and then I believe there is nothing wrong with that because they have full freedom to do whatever they want. My own point of view on the world is different from other people perspective, but it does not mean my point of view is accurate one that would be doing unreasoned assumption. In conclusion, all new religions are no less believable than old religions because there are all of the new religions will deliberate when they first developed. All of the religions were created under the same process, under different situations; but still the identical as other religions. Moreover, there are no religions that can give evidence to others to prove themselves that they are the only true one; no one has actual existing evidence that will make everyone believe. Therefore, we all are on the same situation where being against a new religion is mediating without even doing any investigation to know the whole truth, even though your own religion agonized the same difficulty at one point in life time.
Many people in the world have a strong belief in their religion and base many life decisions off of it. These same people have a way of shutting out any historical possibilities that could otherwise differentiate with their beliefs. It is apparent that the innumerable religions of the world are diverse. Theists believe that there is one personal God. Just by evaluating the variances in beliefs, it is observable to distinguish the difference. Thus, any religion that makes an allegation that it has to be the only true religion must be considered as false.

Scholars have been trying to come up with a well-founded, acceptable and universal definition of religion for years; however, none of these definitions so far are a perfect fit for all religions of the world. There are many things in our life that are well defined and well understood but, unfortunately, religion is not one of them. There is no common ground and understanding of what religion really means. Religion is what we make of it, so no one can truly define religion in a way that is meaningful across all borders as it is outside of the realm of reason and rationale and the definitions we give could be either too exclusive or inclusive.
John Saliba’s approach to new religious movements is secular (despite his position as a Jesuit Priest) and well rounded. He begins by exploring how new religious movements are viewed today, how they have been reacted to in the past and why that may be. He examines the original definition of the word “cult” as well as the modern derivations of it and how it affects these new religious movements. By considering multiple opinions on new religious movements as well as looking at the historical, psychological, sociological, legal and theological context in which these religions came to be and attract new followers, he is able to advocate for a more open approach to these new religions and offer a better way to handle them; to respond to them, rather than react.

I was trying to learn more about religion why did I feel so scared? Am I going to find where I belong? Will I have enough time? These are questions I sometimes have to ask myself. Atheists are people that have a belief that there is nothing more after this life to me would seem to have really nothing to live for believing that they are just here to die which is a sad message. So in this essay I would like to describe why religion is so important and such an amazing thing.
The religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are alike in many ways but they also share many differences. Judaism and Christianity use the bible in their holy scriptures, while Islam does not. My definition of religion has mostly stayed the same, but my perception of it has changed. At the beginning of the class, I assumed religion was something you believed based on your moral principles. I now believe that those moral principles are based on the religion that you believe in. Your religion changes your perception of the world and how to go about in it. Your religion tells you what is right and wrong in the world and answers all of the big questions one asks. Religion according to our book is, “A pattern of beliefs and practices that expresses and enacts what a community regards as sacred and/or ultimate about life” (Van Voorst 6). The definition of religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods(Merriam-Webster). After this semester I have come to realize that religion is a much more advanced, complicated, and personal definition.
