Many people don't understand the point in playing softball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball? Why is there pleasure in that? Well, I play softball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling I have everytime I walk onto the field. As I walk onto the field my goal for the day is to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I feel drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. I felt this feeling this day as I walked onto the field. The ball made a jump into the air. I had no time to react. The ball went straight to my face. I fell to the ground in pain but I tried my hardest not to show it, I would be strong for my team. I got up now realizing that there were about 7 people rushing towards me. Ugh, now they would keep examining me. I said I was fine, I said I would stay on the field. Kirsten you're bleeding ridiculously, you're coming off of this field, my nurse mom said. After screaming and crying I agreed to come off of the field.
We had 10 people in our line up to bat. This meant even if I came off the field I would still get to bat! While my mother and the trainer hovered over me trying to stop the bleeding I watched my teammates. I counted on them to finish this inning for me and for them. A hit advanced the runner to second base. With a runner on first and second a fly ball was hit out to the outfield. Come on Jessica you have got this ball, it's all yours. Caught ball makes third out end of the inning.
Time to make a comeback. I wouldn't have to bat for a while. People kept asking me are you going to bat or go to the emergency room. I would bat of course. As my teammates were batting I had all confidence in
