I think good books written by great writers. In a book is has many paragraph if every paragraphs are correct and interesting a book will be interesting. I am freshman from English for international communication. More or less, I Should be spoken and written English as well. In first semester I studied about grammar. I think grammar is very difficult for me. This subject has details about tense, part of speech, Phrases and sentence. I do not understand how to write correct sentence. I think grammar is the most difficult subject but in second semester I have writing class this subject is more difficult than grammar. Mrs.Thanida is my lecturer in writing class. She is very lovely and friendly. In class she has beautiful smile. I think she look like Barbie …show more content…
First lesson is common grammar and writing problems it makes me worry about paragraph writing because I found all the problems in my paragraph writing. Next I learn about six steps to writing paragraph this lesson make me write a paragraph faster. I never check and rewrite when I write a paragraph that reason for my mistake in paragraph. When my lecturer review my paragraph writing she is look for errors and edit for write better. She always tells us to be attention to learn and develop myself. For me writing class is very important because this is basic writing for advance writing in next year. In future writing skill is to important role for me specifically my job in future. First of all, I must to more practice and pay attention to writing. If I want to find a good job I need to good for English. In my class have 13 students. We are different style and talkative in class we are louder. Sometime I think I annoy my lovely lecturer because I talk too much in her class. She has one sentence for her student “you can talk and do something is you like but your paragraph need to good paragraph” she says. Her words is makes me realize to manner in class. She always tells us about lower score and incorrect
Over this past semester I have grown greatly as a writer. At the beginning of the semester I was not very confident in my writing because I did not think I had the skills to create strong pieces of writing. Not only have I grown as a writer, but I now enjoy writing more. I believe I have grown as a writer in many ways. Some of these include; I am now able to extend my wording to fit a page requirement, I am able to format my writing in MLA format, I have learned new writing strategies, and I am able to write in many styles of writing.
Like reading, in the beginning, I saw writing as a chore, something you only must do when you needed to do homework or at school. It was something your teacher made you do in the beginnings of class to “open your mind.” I hated the idea of writing about how my Christmas was or what I did over the weekend. It was all too tedious and boring, because it was never about what I wanted to write about, fiction.
‘I am going to fail’ was the very first thought that crept into my mind on that very first day of class. Before I stepped into the classroom on the first day, I felt pretty good about my writing. I had done previously well in English, and didn’t think this class would be much of a challenge. This all changed on the first day of school, when my professor talked about the level of reading and writing expected for this class. I remember thinking ‘I don’t read, why couldn’t I have been born someone who likes to read?!’ Since this moment on the very first day of class, I have grown immensely through hard work. In this essay, I will explain what I have learned over the course of this class about myself, and about writing.
Her friend gave her support and allowed her to realize different perspectives to incorporate into her writing. Duffy’s sophomore year English teacher, gave her the guidance to improve her skill. Therefore, the methods teachers approach teaching their subject matter is imperative to their students’
To sum up, the most useful success I made is writing a good quotation. The last but not least, I never hesitate to talk with instructor and being active about my study. Theses not only writing skills, but also are correct attitude of study. I believe I can do even much better in the following four years' stud
A lesson that I learned for good. When I was five years old and the year it was 2005. Me and my mother were home like any other day. It was a Monday morning and everyone left the house except for me and my mother. The reason why we were the only ones left is, because my sister was at the age where she could go to school. As for my father well he’s the man of the house so he has to go to work.
As time goes by, I noticed how reading and writing became one of my weaknesses. Having an assignment readings and writing an essay about it was one of the things I don’t like doing. I am not sure if there are any valid reason on why I don’t like it but all I know is there is always a point where I end up getting stuck because I do not know what else to say. Also, reading gets deeper and some of the words are hard to understand especially when some of the readings use metaphors. However, in every essay I turned in, I always look forward on all of my teacher’s comments because I always want to know what else I am missing, what else to say, and how to improve it. I guess in this case, Sherman Alexie and I are opposite towards our view on writing but we are the alike on the view of learning and improving.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
I have studied English since I was a grade seven, but the curriculum in my middle school and high school years, mainly focuses on reading and speaking components of language skills, with a little focus on writing. As a result, I never felt confident with any piece that I was asked to write. Writing has been a hurdle for me to succeed in college since most of the courses in college requires one or the other way writing skill. Consequently, I have decided to work on my writing skills, and have started working on it; even before, I started taking this English 101 class. I used to use a various educational material which I thought might help me to meet my writing goal. Some of the materials which I was using includes: TOEFL educational materials, You Tube resources, and various novels. All of these resources have helped me to polish my writing skills. Furthermore, after I started taking this class, I have learned to enjoy writing. I have made it a point to communicate my own thoughts and feelings as opposed to simply summarize the thoughts of famous writers and authors before me. This class builds up my confidence in my own writing and for that I am highly appreciative.
As I received my essay today I noticed some strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Some of the things I really need to improve on are writing in present tense and having an active voice, revising my work better and to write in an MLA format. These skills are very important as I will need them all throughout my life. Three strategies I would like to use to improve my writing are revising with the teacher beforehand, use a thesaurus to make better word choices and to practice writing in an active voice. These strategies will help me a lot as they focus on the errors I make in my writing. Revising with the teacher beforehand will help me a lot as I can easily get feedback on my essay before I hand it in. Showing it to the teacher will also allow
Before I enrolled into this English class, I knew my strengths were limited as a result of being out of school for a long time, I had forgotten most of the writing rules. Last semester I took English 101 with a lab which helped me refresh my memory on grammar, punctuation and helped me organize my thoughts. I have to admit that English class never served as my strong point and I found myself constantly frustrated and confused as to why I never received the
From each of my previous English classes from summer 2014 to summer 2015, I have learned a new method on writing a good essay and same method that I have learned previously. When learning the new method of writing a good essay, it was hard as I got too used to doing the regular way of writing an essay. That would be the reason why I would struggle sometime to write a good paper as each English class I take would learn a new unique or same method. I am getting better as I steadily improving my weak points in my paper, but I would still have some problems with grammars in most of my paragraphs, which is the reason why I would go to learning center and have peers review to see where I should change and improved the essay. Learning same and different methods from each English class is difficult to get used to and it takes little by little to develop an excellent paper to turn in.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
HI for those who don't know I am miranda. The topic i chose was what lessons i learned over my high school years ok so to be quite honest high school was one of the hardest things i had to get through. The last four years have thrown so many hurdles at me that some people wouldn't have been able to finish . sometimes in life there are some people who don't have any financially or emotionally. You just have to learn how to do everything on your on.
Through this semester, I believe that this is the best class I ever take, but on the other hand, this is the worst class I ever take. The reason why I believe this is the best class for me is because I have improved my writing skills a lot through English 1A. For example, I have improved my pre-writing skills so I can write much more easily when I really start writing. Furthermore, professor and students in this class are really nice, so I have gotten a lot of helps from them; their helps motivate me to keep enhancing and improving myself. However, this is the worst class for me because English 1A is the most challenging class for me since I still have many writing weakness.
