Personal Narrative: The Girls Varsity

No matter what sport you take part in, it takes an abundance amount of commitment and time. It is always difficult to put time in academics, not to mention another activity. Everyone has the ability to choose whether or not to engage themselves in sports. Personally, I participate in sports, specifically water polo and swimming, by reason of the opportunity of meeting new individuals, a distraction from academics, and an experience.
Because my team is a supportive, beautiful family, sports have been a part of my life. The entire water polo team is astonishing, however the Girls Varsity is the greatest related to a family. Since our practices occur at different times between the Varsity and Junior Varsity, it is difficult to connect to such extent with the Junior Varsity players, consequently leaving us not as interactive with them. My family has never pushed me to take part in sports ever, and neither of my two brothers have played sports competitively. During the summer of my incoming freshman year, my friend and I decided to do a sport. We enrolled ourselves in the summer academy and a couple of upperclassmen were presenting information on all the sports that are available to us. After listening a couple people speak about a sport that they personally participate in, my friend and I decided to try something different and play water polo. Truthfully, before high school, I had never heard of water polo. I showed up to the first practice not knowing what to expect. In the end, I fell in love with the sport and wanted to swim more, so I joined the swim team in the spring. A sport is a choice that can only be made, if you would like to commit to it.
