Personal Narrative: Playstation 2 Football Game John and I both like to play College Football 2002 for the Playstation 2. Last weekend, though, was the first time John and I have ever paired up to play each other. I could tell from the atmosphere that this was going to be a great rilvery. The first game we played was a real, “clash of the titans”. I had Nebraska and John had Texas, while playing in what some sports critics believe as the game of the century. After the horn sounded for the four quarters of regulation the score was tied. In overtime it went back and forth on four brilliant scoring drives led by John and me. Going into the third and final overtime my hands were sweating, just as if I were really out on the field. It was time to step up and make a big play on defense, and that’s just what happened. My free safety jumped up and stole the ball from one of John’s receivers. Now Coach Campbell is going to release his secrets of winning at College Football 2002 in good faith that my secrets will not be used against him some day. The main offensive weapon needing to be mastered is the pass. Learning the art of passing can open up for the run, as well as, drive your opponent crazy. In just about every playbook, there are at least one to two plays that are virtually unstoppable. I generally like the plays that have the receiver break at forty-five degree angle on his route. If the opponent starts running a pass coverage defense, then simply run a halfback draw up the middle. Doing this keeps the opponent guessing on weather or not the play is a going to be a run or a pass. Utilizing a good pass run balance should get enough points to take home the trophy. Defense is more of a guessing game unless you are playing the little sisters of the poor. Knowing the opponent’s strong points and weaknesses is the biggest key to running a successful defense. If the opposing player likes to run a lot, keep a more relaxed, base defense. More experienced players will have a tendency to pass more than they run. In this case a more aggressive, blitzing defense is required. Pressure on the quarterback is the key to denying the opponent time to find an open receiver.
One example of this was that Super Bowl game against the Rams. It is hard to forget a game in which everyone was expecting an easy win for the Rams just like the game they won against the Patriots during the regular season. St Louis' team was a very good team. Their offence looked like it was flawless and unstoppable. However "Every offense has weaknesses" says Bill Belichick and for that Super Bowl game he definitely studied his lesson well. He made his defense concentrate on one player, Michael Faulk. On practice he chose someone from the scout team to be Faulk and made them run Ram's plays over and over again. In every play he kept yelling at his defense "Where is he? Where is he?" to encourage them to follow Faulk at all times. After a week of hearing the same yell before every play: "Where is he?" finally one of the defensive players turned around and yelled "Shut the fuck up" which even Belichick appreciated, because it meant they had it down.
In my 8 or so years of playing football I’ve often heard coaches liken the job of the linemen to that of a soldier fighting in a trench, pushing, attacking, and struggling for every inch of the battlefield that is the line of scrimmage. Of course, the job of a lineman is far less dramatic and glorious than that description makes it out to be, most of our job is just keeping the defense at bay so the quarterback and the rest of the backfield has time to get a play off. Unfortunately for us offensive linemen, the defense has a much larger bag of tricks when it comes to the actual clash, they can grab, pull, or simply spin by while the O-line is relegated mostly to pushing with shoulder and hand. This can make things difficult if, for instance
Have you ever wanted to be a spectacular quarterback? Have you ever wanted to lead your team to a Super Bowl and hold the prestigious Lombardi Trophy? Well, that is going to be one of the hardest things possible. There are a number of things that would be helpful on at least getting drafted to a team, but to be great quarterback takes more than anyone truly knows. You may think football is simply running around and throwing a ball, but that doesn’t even begin to describe the finesse and challenge of the NFL.

This drill will teach players to constantly look up-field to move the ball, be aware of the location of the ball at all time, challenge your defense to cut off passing routes, create quick transitions, and generate faster, and more effective game play.
In sports a team will do whatever it takes to win. When teams do something different it can create controversy. That is what happens in Football Champ. Troy is a twelve year old boy. He is a football genius. When a team lines up to run a play on offense, Troy can predict the play that is going to be run. He gets hired by the Atlanta Falcons to help their defense. This book is about what happens when the league discovers Troy. In this journal I will be visualizing the scenes from Troy’s junior football team, evaluating the Falcons use of Troy and they way that the National Football League reacts, and making a prediction about Troy’s future.
The secondary has been depleted, yet the Panthers still manage to boast one of the better passing defenses in all of football. Led by cornerback Josh Norman and safety Roman Harper, the Panthers held their own through the air, and actually led the league in interceptions with twenty four. Norman can shut down half of the field, so that leaves three players to shutdown the other half. That makes defense very hard to throw against. But the secondary is not what scared
Football, just like any other sport, is mostly played for satisfaction and enjoyment out of the game. Football is known to be able to reduce stress, anxiety, and forms of depression. Football is also known for its hard conditioning, strength, and its strong mentality, which is great for your health. While football improves your strength and mentality, it also improves your concentration. Football is a game full of concentration. It forces you to get your mind set and to focus on what is going on during the game. Football also improves dedication and determination. NFL players are all known for their hard work. It is a requirement to play the game. You must know what your goal is and you must constantly push yourself to achieve the goal you have set for yourself. Likewise many sports, football teaches you teamwork. Teamwork is a number one necessity in football. You must know your role on the team and in order to accomplish that role, you must know how to work as a team and not just an
2013 football team played as one unit. We played slow and only got a few yards at a time. We just didn't run 50 yards and score a touchdowns. We only ran like 5 yards at a time, because we knew we could have blowout most of the teams we had played., but we wanna to run out the clock so the other team could not get so much time to get the ball to score. This is how most of the good teams in the NFL beat a lot of the they play by having the ball for more than half of the game and this is how the team played this year. But the defence we had this year didn't really let the other team have the ball for a very lot of time. This year team put a lot of teams on a three and out streak.
The linebacker has to not only make big tackles but also has to know where everyone else should be on the field. One simple mistake, no matter whether mental or physical, can cause the player to be in the wrong spot. If the linebacker is not in the proper position this will give the offense a better chance at scoring. The discipline not to guess and to truly understand the game requires great practice. With plenty of keys to stick to, the linebacker cannot afford to have any false moves. Although the eyes of a linebacker should be on the ball carrier, there are other things they have to look for. For example, the linebacker has to be the first to detect whether the offense will run or pass. In the situation that the offense is running the ball, the linebacker has to be sure to stop the runner in his or her tracks, allowing a minimum amount of yards as
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
The horn blew and the game started, Dedham won the face off and is running down the field at a faster pace than I was used to. They shot the ball! I couldn’t move my stick quick enough to save it, so I threw my body in front of it and got hit right in the shoulder. It hurt a lot, but what I hadn’t realized was that it hit my shoulder and reflected ten feet away from the net where my player caught it and ran down the field and scored. The other team didn’t know what hit them. It was the half now and the score was three to nothing in our favor. Our couch told us that we needed to keep up the good work.
First of all, the rules of football require one to equip himself with approximately twenty pounds of equipment, including a helmet, shoulder pads, and girdle pads. This is because football has the most contact involved out of all sports. In a football game, the norm is that the home team wears colorful jerseys and the visiting team wears white jerseys. Moreover, if a team’s offense is on the field, their defense is on the sideline. A team’s offense includes a center, who snaps the ball to the quarterback. The “QB” then has a choice to run with the ball, hand it off to a running back, or throw it to a wide receiver. The quarterback has an offensive line to protect him from the assailing defense. If a teammate happens to score a touchdown, he earns his team six points, which allows for the kicker to kick an extra point, and give his team a total of seven points. However, if the offense fails to travel at least ten yards within four attempts, or “downs,” they have the opti...
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
Teamwork is full of nothing but trust. You have to trust your teammates and the coaches, however you must trust in yourself to get the play right. Everyone in football has a part and it can take only one person to mess the play up. Each part has to be played correctly if so the team is pretty unstoppable.
