Personal Narrative: My Trip To Hawaii

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. I’ve always heard stories from my parents about Kauai and its tranquil atmosphere, the rugged volcanoes on Big Island, and the San Francisco-like Oahu. One of the islands that they had not gone to yet was Maui, and I was intrigued by its famous Kalua Pork and Polynesian dances. Funnily enough, my mom told me I had to plan the trip in order for the family to go, and I found a good deal on Triple A for a bundle that included the hotel and a rental car. During the summer of 2014, I finally got a chance to visit Maui. I awoke with a start to the sound of chirping birds singing their early morning melodies. I looked out the open window... how nostalgic. I felt as if I was back at home, only at ease and stress free. I was on the beautiful island of Maui at last. The palm trees swayed. A gentle breeze grazed my face. I inhaled a breath of fresh air that flooded my mind with peace and serenity. The radiant sun gradually warmed up my body through the sparsely spread clouds. We drove up north and decided to make our way around Maui in a clockwise fashion. This route would eventually bring us to the road to Hana, famous for its natural beauty of breathtaking landscapes and rushing waterfalls. I, however, did not exactly enjoy this road to Hana, as I got a headache from all the winding roads that seemed never ending. Along the way, we stopped at tourist spots such as the Local Boys Shaved Ice to buy some treats to satisfy our stomachs. I got shaved ice that had a blend of coconut and mango flavors. In the south of Maui, our family and I explored the Haleakala National Park.
