Personal Narrative: My First Basketball Drafts

I’m nervous. I’m sweating. I’m at the NHL draft and I’m about to be drafted to my dream team, the Washington Capitals. The Capitals had the first overall pick this year and I had the best statistics than anyone that was here. The draft manager called on the the team coach, Barry Trotz, to pick a new player and he pointed right at me. I couldn't believe it! I was in. Once the drafts for the day was over, I went over to my new coach to say thanks. I was really excited to play with my new teammates.
Today was the first team practice this season and I couldn't wait to talk and meet with my new friends. The practice was held in the morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The locker room was nicer than I thought and I got to have my own locker with my name engraved on the top. The coach talked for about thirty minutes until we came out on the ice at the Verizon Center and saw hundreds of fans cheering us. My coach had put me on the first line, which meant that I was playing first. As soon as the referee dropped the puck, the whole ice was filled with large noises. Me and my teammates passed the puck until we got into our offensive zone. My teammates faked a shot and passed it to me right in front of the goal. It was my chance. I shot the puck as hard as I could and aimed it right above the goalie’s glove. The fans were on their feet, cheering me on. The puck rolled right off of the goalie’s hand and into the net. I had just scored my first career goal at the professional level on my first time. My teammates came over to hug me and the whole stadium was screaming with joy. This was the best moment of my life.
