It still surprises me to this day that I passed many National Guild Tests, performed for the Annual Recitals, and I would not have done it all without the guide and support from Ms. Cecilia Celis. Like many other pianists, I started playing piano at the age of 5, but started to have lessons with Ms. Celis when I was 12 years old. Before having Ms. Celis as my teacher, my technique was not as strong as it could be, and I would only practice for a short amount of time everyday. Since having her as a teacher, I have learned not only to learn and master the notes, but to appreciate the music for what it is and feel it in me as I play the piece.
Music has always been a part of my life since I was young because both my parents have musical background,
I've been attracted to music ever since I took my first step. When I was five, my mother brought me to my first ever musical production. My young mind was
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
Dancing her way through the aisle to receive her Deans Key award, no one would have ever thought that senior AnnMary Chemmachel battled with anxiety during her nursing education at Lewis University.
My mother's hands glided up the black and white keys with such ease as I, just a little girl, sat there and watched in awe. I saw how piano had shaped my mother's life, and later, I realized piano had become my piano teacher's lifestyle. At age seven I must have finally been deemed worthy of piano lessons. I took lessons in a little farm house in the middle of nowhere for thirty minutes a week. Although little, I still managed to show my passion for piano through constant practice and my courage through performance. Piano and all music in general, had always been a safe haven for me. As I grew older I realized music would remain to be a big part of my life. My musical abilities continued to grow by learning new instruments. My personality continued to grow because of the great people I met and would always consider my best companions. Piano has allowed me to learn how to have strong characteristics such as
I began exploring the musical world in second grade, when I begrudgingly started piano lessons following in my older sister’s footsteps. What began as a struggle turned out to be an ongoing experience I find in both my exploration of piano and viola (started in 5th grade). I am not a prodigal player, and whether I am a talented composer remains to be seen, but I find unexpected yet comforting roots among the musical world. With each day I learn more about various composers and get to know them and their styles. From Mozart’s pure melodies, Beethoven’s harmonies, to Chopin’s ability to seamlessly modulate from key to key I find finesse, detail and ease. I am fascinated by their abilities to pull a melody out of thin air and embellish it. I feel that I am not the only one gripped by the music composers create; the whole human race enjoys listening to music, whether it is classical, jazz, rap or one of the many other forms of music the world has to offer today.
Music is a vital part of every day life for most people. It can be found, or heard, anywhere. Music is played on the radio, in moves, on television, on personal media devices, and at live concerts or outdoor venues. For some people music is purely for leisure or entertainment, and for others it is their hobby or career. As I reflect on my musical culture, music has always been an important aspect of my life. I was exposed to different genres of music at an early age, and I give my mother credit for that. Although she never received any musical training and had no knowledge of classical music, she loved all types of music and listened to many varieties. Naturally, my taste in music has changed throughout the years. I still listen to some of the same music from my childhood, but my preferences and experiences have expanded into a wider musical spectrum. Music has always been an important aspect of my life, and it continues to influence and shape my personal and social aspects of life.
I’ve always loved music and singing, even as a kid. It has always been my passion. Performing on stage is what actually broke me out of my shell. Going into highschool I was very awkward and shy, but music helped me conquer my social awkwardness. Music has helped me give back to my community in ways I never thought of, seeing the smiles on people’s faces when I sing is one of the greatest feelings ever and I cherish it, and the applause when I’m done makes me feel all warm inside. Performing and helping others perform is something I love to do and it helped me find my place in the world. Learning a new song is fantastic experience as well.
Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.
However I was exposed to a lot of music as a child, my mom sang in many groups at our church and all of my parents friends played the piano, guitar or sang so we always had music when we got together. As for myself I have always loved listening to music, I sang in the choir at school and sang at church. Now I do not sing if others can hear me, so most of my singing is done in the car with
As you see me currently, I am a music education major that specializes in percussion at San Jose State university. There were events that happened in my life for me to choose to study music for my future. I would not say that the first thing that made me interested in music was my parents playing their playlist around the house when I was little or when they paid an instructors to teach me piano or drum set. The actually spark for music for me was in sixth grade elementary school, as I attending a middle school concert in a gym for my sister, Lucy, as she performed with the guitar class.
Music has absolutely been an enormous part of my life and who I am. However,
Music is the third most important thing to me in life outside of god and my mom. Music keeps me balanced. Every since I was a baby music was played around me. Jazz was always played around me to soothe me. There would be times when I would be really hyper acting like I couldn't sleep, my mom would put on some jazz and I would be fine. A lot of times I can have a long chore and I say to my self how can I accomplish this, Knowing it will take me forever. So I'll put on some jazz music and in twenty-five minutes I'm finished.
Music has been a part of my life from the earliest I can remember from my childhood. I had a tutor come to my house and teach me lessons and we served her breakfast every day. When we eat, my godfather used to play Christian songs in the radio. My godparents are godly and taught me lot of spiritual songs. Even though I did not take music classes, I knew all the songs and hymns of my church’s prayer book.
In those days, I never got to see the importance of having those lessons, practicing for hours, and even playing those tunes. As much as I tried, I could never find a way to enjoy it; it was no more than some never-ending horrible homework for me. But today, I thank my teacher for forcing me to appreciate the art of music. Now, I can easily list playing the piano as one of the most refreshing aspects of my life. Whenever I feel down, I always have the chance to be up in clouds after a couple of minutes. Swaying back and forth, I can surrender myself to the soothing tunes and get lost in the harmony. I believe very few people have that kind of luxury and I'm absolutely grateful for that.
Music is an essential part of life because of the expression it allows people to have, its entertainment, and its therapeutic ways for the world.
