Lost in Death Valley (alternate ending)

Me, Donna, my daughter, Gina, and her friend, Jenny got stranded in the middle of one of the most dangerous places in the world. There was nothing even remotely green, the place was a desert, and it had an area of 3 million acres. We were going to drive to a landmark but we must have taken a wrong turn once we hit the mountains, I tried the GPS but that got us more lost. Then our supplies including gas ran out and we have been walking ever since.

After an hour or two of walking toward the sun we saw a cloth tent just reaching into view, it occurred to me that we were still a mile away but I couldn’t help but scream, “Hey do you girls see that?”
“See what?” Gina said rudely.

Way different than yesterday, yesterday it tasted like the best water i’ve ever had. Then It smelt burning wood then I stood up and looked back at Gina who was rotating a hotdog she must have gotten from the camp tents.
“Breakfast is ready!” she shouted.
I sprinted to the campfire and grabbed a hotdog stuck it on a long twig and sank my teeth into a hotdog , it tasted a bit undercooked but i will never get the taste and goodness out of a hotdog ever again.
A few hours went by of searching for more supplies we found a couple empty bottles that we filled with water and a bag of “fast oatmeal” and walked out from under the trees and into the blaring sun. But then we realized that we’ve left one of their bags at the camp, when we found the bag they found a flare gun. When Gina shot the flare it made a sizzling sound and blinded us with a red light.

“We’re gonna wait until someone sees that flare and comes here!”
I walked over to the girls and told them to start walking towards the car which was about an hour north in straight line. When we got to the car we waited for an hour then a helicopter came by and saw the camp. Our car being nearly full now drove to the helicopter were we were flown to
