I'm psyched to begin high school this fall! The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is the freedom I didn't have last year. It's not that big of a deal, but I'll finally get to bring my backpack to class! I'll also get to go wherever for RAISE without having to sign out of our anchored RAISE class like we did in middle school. I'm interested in joining after school clubs like partners club and participating in the school plays! I want to try to do as many activities as I can because I never did much in the last two years. This includes being on the JV field hockey team and trying out for crew! I probably wouldn't have played any sports if my friends didn't encourage me. They're the best! I hope I can make even more who are in different
we are all grown up now. Selena Bravo & Kaylee Monje will Graduating this upcoming June. Miguel Bravo went to WSU for college. Marcos plays soccer for "Surf" and from my understanding, they are a travel team playing tournament all across the west coast. Bryan is on his junior year of college at Central, and his PR for pole vault is 14'9"! I'm on my junior year of high school and a lot has changed for me as well. I traded in soccer for cross country. I traded in Basketball for cheerleading even though I'm not built like one. I still plan to run track this upcoming spring and make a couple new
High school is meant to be the time of your life, but for most seniors just like me it can be some of the most emotional and crazy time. The things in my past make me who I am today, and the things I do now are the first footsteps into the future. I’ve learned a lot about myself in these past four years, and I still have so much learning to do. This is my high school story; the good, bad, and the ugly.
When I was entering into High School, I tried to join as many clubs as I can, since I wanted not only to be superior in grades, but also extracurricular activities. So as usual, I joined Key Club. At first volunteering at the events was fun, but as I went to more events, it felt as if it was a chore. I did not feel any passion; it was rather tiresome.
I remember, freshman year, I was scared, none of my middle school friends went to my new high school, and I didn’t know anyone. I was a shy girl and had been shoved out of my comfort zone. So as the weeks and months went on I made only "school friends", basically just acquaintances you meet and only talk to in school. Eventually soccer season came around, and of course my dad convinced me to continue playing as I definitely did not plan on putting myself out there like that. Not only did playing soccer on my high school's team introduce me to my best friend, but I've met some of the best people, made memories I'll never forget, and learned extraordinary lessons I couldn’t have learned any
I was told that this, my junior year, would be the easiest year of my high school career. And no, they were absolutely wrong. It was not just school and grades that I was concern about either. I had other things to worry about, things like, driving, clubs, friends and family. I however had no idea that it would be this difficult. Throughout this school year I have learned many things; like the value of sleep, whose really your friend, and that although very important, grades are not everything.
Throughout my four years in high school I have been fortunate enough to fulfill many of my aspirations and my thirst for knowledge. One goal that I would like to achieve is to become an international attorney. I have aligned my involvement in specific academic and extra-curricular activities to aid me preparing for the long road between my present situation and the day I pass the bar exam. Through my high school activities I have learned three virtues that I have deemed necessary to achieve my goal, passion, self-discipline, and perseverance.
Another thing is my passion for cheerleading. I love to cheer and ive been doing it since i was 9, i wouldn't want to trade that for the world. I’ve always been the kid to try everything and when i found cheerleading i was inspired and encouraged to keep going and pursuit it. I am very eager to try and become a highschool cheerleader. I also love to volunteer in other things to help keep me busy. I also know it is important for me to join clubs for my future and colleges. I am also very interested into Young Life and helping with Wyld Life for a middle
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
Throughout my high school experience, I've been able to obtain knowledge that I can use to better my life. Some of the classes I've taken have been a blessing in disguise. For example, I never expected to learn as much as I did about writing and literature by just simply reading. Many of my teachers have pushed me to my limits and inspired me to think differently from my peers. In general my best English experience was reading "MacBeth" by William Shakespeare in Mr. Elwell's class, where I also realized I had many English skills to improve on.
Hockey goaltending for H.H Dow High School this has been more of a journey than a high school sport the last few years. Transferring from another school created eligibility challenges my sophomore year. My junior year had its struggles as but as upperclassmen it was getting better. Senior year has been the best so far only a few weeks into the season. This year ultimately decides where I play and what I do as I continue my hockey adventures after High school.
Try to imagine being homeschooled near your entire life before high school, then moving from Los Angeles to Miami and starting as a freshman at one of the country’s largest high schools. With 4,500 students, 93% minority enrollment, as well as English being a second language what challenges do you think you would face? How would you approach something like this? Would you be a little scared? I wasn’t, I am a Military brat and I was eager to dive in head first on Expert Mode.
Let’s flash back in time to before our college days. Back to then we had lunch trays filled with rubbery chicken nuggets, stale pizza, and bags of chocolate milk. A backpack stacked with Lisa Frank note books, flexi rulers, and color changing pencils. The times where we thought we wouldn’t make it out alive, but we did. Through all the trials and tribulations school helped build who I am today and shaped my future. From basic functions all the way to life-long lessons that helped shape my character.
There are two types of people; those who watch it happen and those who make it happen. You want to be a player in the game not a fan on the sidelines. Whether it be athletics, clubs, choir, or band do and try all you can to stay active at your school. Through these opportunities you will end up meeting new people that you never would have met, had you not gotten involved. Another crucial item you will need to pack in your teenage survival kit is your family.

By the time the end of my junior year rolled around I was ready to get away, so I enrolled in the Running Start program. I felt I had outgrown all that school activities had to offer and I wanted to just get on with my life. But as many teachers have clearly demonstrated over the last four years; you never get too old or too mature to have a little fun in high school. It took me this year to realize this. It was around homecoming that I started to feel a little left out.
