I remember when it all happened… It was just a regular friday afternoon, I was hanging out with jessie and griffin at out local pancake restaurant in town. We all ordered the chocolate pancakes, like we always do. The waitress brought out our food and i thought I smelled something, but i just waved it off. Jesse and Griffin were talking politics and i couldn't help but wonder what that smell was, as i was thinking i noticed something in my pancakes, not chocolate chips, but something larger and a darker shade of brown, I picked it up with my fork and I lifted it up to my nose and it smelled like… droppings. I noticed some people with red eyes around town, and at first, i thought nothing of it, but as time passes by, I started observing people, and soon nearly every body in town was getting red eyes. I started getting worried and called my family,and i asked if any of them had been getting red eyes, my father picked up the phone and said that he had red eyes but he hasn't been getting a lot of sleep lately. When i heard this, i started doing some research and the closest thing i could find is some virus called lassa fever, which makes people have red eyes and rat like teeth. As i started to do some research i found something.. Lassa fever is spread through rat droppings.. i started to think to myself “ could this be what i found in my pancakes the other day?!” I started to freak out, but then I found the cure, Ribavirin I sat back in my chair with relief. I walked over to the phone and I called my dad. It seemed like everybody in town hadn't been themselves lately. Jessie, Griffin, and I all decided that we weren't taking any chances of getting the virus… so we hid in the subway station underground. From city to city, town to town, we hid all day and all night, only surfacing to gather recourses. We hid for 6 years straight, surviving off of scraps and our determination to find a cure.
