Somewhere in the outside of Walden, Colorado, near the Routte National Forest, there is a sheriff. His name is Justin Case. Justin is the sheriff of Walden. He is a man with a lot a friends but no family. One cold winter day in Colorado, Justin got a disturbance call in the Routte National Forest. The person making the complaint is a women who said that she saw a man in the forest eating a calf moose like he was a rabid animal. When Justin approached the National Forest trail where the bizarre sighting was, he saw the lady who reported the rabid man. Elizabeth spoke, “I am a professor at the Pima Medical Institute and I teach the curing of viruses and how to stop them from spreading.” …show more content…
“ He was near the Blue Lake Trail” Elizabeth replied. Justin and Elizabeth loaded up on their ATV and headed to the Blue Lake Trail. On the way to the Blue Lake trail the National Forest trail was very dangerous and covered with snow. Many places in the trail were so bad that Justin had to get off the ATV and winch it up over rocks and steep hills. The two reached the Blue Lake trail and it started to hail. “This is just my luck!’’ Justin replied to the hail storm as it hailed upon him. The two searched the trail for the man that Elizabeth saw. They walked down the trail for about a quarter mile and then they spotted the remains of the calf that the man had
It rained really hard and there was lots of thunder and lightning. The cattle were running scared all over. After the storm, Titus discovered his brother (Micah) stuck under a wagon, dieing. He finally was able to pull his brother out with the help of his horse. Titus buried his brother and said some good words about him before he returned back to the other ranchers. He then pulled the ranchers together. Then, when they were really close to the Homestead Meat Company where they would sell the cattle, they ran into cowdiggers which were going to steal some of their cattle. Then gunfire takes place, the cowdiggers leave, but Titus got shot. Wounded he still pushes on. They finally make it and return home with 200 dollars. When Titus returns home, his father finally accepts him as his son. This is about the whole story summed up into one paragraph. In this speech I will be doing the interview as the main character
Bill Bryson uses his experience on the Appalachian Trail to show how different your expectations can be compared to the reality of the situation. Bryson believed that he was fully prepared for the hike and that it would be exciting but, in all actuality it was very difficult. He also believed that the hike would be stimulating for the mind but, at times it didn’t require a lot of thinking or attention. His experience and the background research he provided created an image for his audience so they could understand the point he was trying to make. These elements served as evidence in the book and was very effective because it was abundant and meaningful.
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
It was breezy day. The clear, light sky was breathtaking. Almost too gorgeous to foreshadow the disastrous day. It was on a tennis tournament on Saturday morning. I had confidence in my own abilities on that tennis court. As if I was Serena Williams ,the greatest tennis player of this century, and would win the whole tournament. I thought about my strengths and not my weaknesses on the bus ride to the tournament. Like my unpredictable serve, backhand strokes and killer volleys (that end points in an instant).
“Where are you from?” The question for me, has always been conflicting. You would ask my mom and dad the question and they would not hesitate for a second before letting “Beledweyne,” or “Somalia.” fall from their mouths. All my other siblings who were born in America would probably answer the question with “Mankato,” or “Eagle Lake,” maybe even “Minnesota.” and not put any thought into it. I however have put plenty of thought into in. Maybe too much thought.
Just a few degrees… we stared at the tilted ground in the searing sun, our sweat dripping onto the parched earth. After eight hours, slaving away at the path, our masterpiece was complete. We successfully carved a bike pump track from the carnage of a dying forest. However, our overseer saw our masterpiece as dangerously sloped. Our spirits sank as he promised another day of sweltering labor.
My first trip to Yosemite was a time where I learned about adaptation. I had applied for an internship up at Evergreen lodge which is just outside of Yosemite. They bring the candidates up to see if you are okay in the environment. When we arrived near Yosemite the area was full of wonderful lush green pine trees immediately next to it was scorched earth. In the valley I found out that the area had adapted to fires and would grow back.
Last summer, I had an amazing opportunity to take part in a three-week expedition trip in the Teton Mountain Range. This expedition included an eleven-day hike along the crest trail of the range and a four-day guided ascent of the Grand Teton, the tallest in the range. It was a fierce personal challenge and I prepared myself physically for the arduous climb. At 13,776 feet in elevation, hiking the Grand would be a massive challenge as I had no experience in technical climbing. Our expedition guide, Ben, spent a day teaching us how to climb using ropes, then we headed out from Corbett High Camp at three in the morning. As we approached the west face of the Grand Teton, our visibility was impaired as we were in the clouds, and the mist from last night’s rain had not evaporated.
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
It started off as any normal day I was sitting at home watching Netflix by myself. This was during the summer and it was definitely too hot to go outside and do anything so I just stayed inside. I was in my room and out of nowhere my best friend bursts through my door and tells me to get up because were going somewhere. I wasn’t surprised she tended to do this a lot, so I got up and we went outside to her car and just started driving. I asked her where we were going but she wouldn’t tell me and told me it wasn’t that big of deal. When we finally arrived at our destination it just ended up being Falls Park in Sioux Falls. I asked her what we were doing here because it was so hot outside, she then replied saying that she just wanted to hangout and do something. We walked around, talked, and just had a great time but it was starting to get
I'm Jeffery the oxe and I recently completed the Oregon trail. In the beginning we started in Saint Louis, Missouri. We were waiting on the field for my food to grow, then I would be free fed.
We packed all night and drove all day but when we stopped every hour. Our legs were asleep almost every time we stopped. It was me , my family and a 9 hour drive to South Dakota. That's what we thought we starts early in the morning. We packed up said goodbye to my brother and are dog and we started the journey. We made it about 25 miles before we had to stop because someone had to go to the bathroom. This happened for about every 50 to 60 miles it was suppose to be a 7 hour drive but it turned into a 10 to 11 hour drive. We didn’t arrive to Sioux Falls, South Dakota until 2:30 PM this was our first KOA we stayed at. We didn’t really have anything to do tell the next day so we went to the falls and went to Thunder Road a family fun place where there's mini golf, laser tag, go kart racer and a laser trip field. We did mini golf and go karts tell the 8:30 PM.
I almost fell off a cliff on the side of a mountain. I was in Pitkin, Colorado, on a camping trip during the summer of 2009. The trees were green, the air was fresh so were the lakes, rivers, and ponds were stocked with fish and wildlife was everywhere. Usually, on these camping trips, I would be accompanied by a large number of people. However, this time, it was just my parents, my three brothers, and my two sisters. I was almost 12 years old at the time and having three older brothers made me very competitive. Naturally, when my family decided to climb one of the mountain’s which were around us, I wanted to be the first one to reach its peak.
Going to Yellowstone park for the first time was very exciting and scary. First, my dad bought the tickets for my family. Then he drove us to the park.My dad drove the car for maybe 1 hour. Suddenly ,I saw many people stopped and looking along the road. I wondered why many people stood here. "What happened?" I asked my mom. I use the telescope to see what happened. And I saw something, something very huge, it was a bear! A grizzly bear! "Wow!"I gasped and get out of the car and takes a lot of Photos to thes big brown bear. Then I was saw something unusual, a guy was trying to get Closed to the grizzly bear! Someone shouted, "That guy is crazy!" Then I looking for that guy,now he and brown bear was only a few feet apart! Then the Bear stand
...e of them fell through and got wet. Since both of these situations had consequences, the reader can foreshadow that this expedition is not going to end well for the man. The man not being on the dog’s side and listening to it got him in the last situation. He built his last fire underneath a tree and the snow melted and fell onto the fire and put it out. His ignorance and overconfidence in his survival skills and not trusting the instincts of the dog eventually led him to his death.
