Personal Narrative: How Grandma Has Changed My Life

As a child, I never could have imagined that this one person would change my life so much in just seventeen short years. Everyone has a hero or someone they look up to, my grandmother just so happens to be that person. Since the day I was born she has lived with me and my family, which qualifies her to be much more than an average grandma. She took care of me when my parents were unable to, taught me new things, and shaped me into the person I am today. The year was 1998 when I was born and a lot changed within my household. My family expanded quickly that year, for five years it had just been my parents and brother living together; but now, me and grandma became a huge part of the family. My grandma is all about giving back to others, even if she does not have enough money to do it, she will find a way to help someone that needs it. Likewise, I get that from her because no matter what a friend or family member needs I ensure they know I will always be there if they need me. Now, when it comes to humor and sarcasm we are the same exact person, it is almost scary how that worked out. She can say something around my parents or brother that they do not really understand or laugh at; but, then she will say the same thing to me and I will laugh for minutes about it or joke back with her. The last thing that I know comes from her and nobody else is how trustworthy we are with each other. Some things I don’t want everyone to know, so I can count on her to not tell anyone else, and that is portrayed so much in my life as well. If a friend tells me something that I know they are serious about others not knowing, their secret is safe with me. The relationship we have with each other is something I will forever cherish and be thankful for. Not many people can say that a sixty-four-year-old can impact a life so much, but that is exactly what she has done for
