Getting Out of Chaos means taking the time each day to plan for your next day. I spend a few moments at the end each night reflecting on my day and planning for my next. With a clear understanding of what I have accomplished, as well as what my top 3 to 5 priorities are for the following day I am able to start each day with a strategic plan. One time I overcame a challenging situation was during the Citi Stock Pitch Competition. Our task was to present a stock recommendation. Our group spent the first day working but making no progress. By the end of the day everyone was discouraged, and 2 members wanted to quit. As I still wanted to submit, I had to figure out a way to motivate the team. I later spoke with a more experienced friend, and realised we failed to break the case down. That night I went home and researched everything I could about stock pitching. There is a point in everyone’s life when they step back and realize “I can’t do this anymore, it’s ruining my life”. Many of my friends have started smoking cigarettes while drinking at a very young age, and continue to use this drug currently and don’t realize the affect it has on their future. While I have been smart enough to avoid smoking, I haven’t been as wise at making decisions when it comes to drinking. The amount of partying I’ve done in college has taken over my life, and has had a huge impact on my grades. Changing my drinking habits and continuing to avoid cigarettes will enable me to be the best I can be for the rest of my college experience.
