In 1919, there was a time when all the men got the right to vote, which wasn’t fair to the women. They wanted to do something about it but they couldn’t, it was all about the men. Later in that year, there was a women, two actually, named Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. Elizabeth worked with Lucretia to do something about the whole voting situation and they were very successful. The law, Women’s Right to Vote, was passed by congress on June 4th, 1919, and was ratified on August 18th, 1920. Here’s my experience. It was January 12th 1919, the day was sunny with some clouds in the sky and you can smell the scent of fresh roses as you walked down the sidewalk. It really didn’t bother me that only men got to vote, I mean, I don’t actually have to vote so why worry about it? It was all stupid in my opinion. Today was my day off from work, I had to cancel it, being the manager and owner of the business that I am. My husband went to go vote and the kids were at school so I had the house to myself. The doorbell rang and I frowned to myself. “Who could that be? Everyone is at home watching the men vote.” I said as I walked over to the door, opening it. “May I help you?” I asked, looking at the fancy dressed women. “Yes. I’m Elizabeth Stanton and this is Lucretia Mott, and we’ve been going door-to-door because of the whole only men get to vote situation. We’ve been wanting to do something about it for years but never really got the chance,” said Elizabeth, “and this year is our year, we were thinking if you could join us.” She looked at me as her eyes widen, almost as if she was desperate.
