Generally speaking it is every freshman dream to play varsity. In my case, however, it is quite the opposite. I started playing basketball in the seventh grade. For me a the time it was just a way for me to pass the time and stay in shape of track. I ended up playing into my eighth and freshman year or high school. Its was a lot of fun and I was having a good time. As soon as the summer going into highschool hit, things made a complete one eighty. I went to work under the varsity coach. He was a tough man to work under. He loved, ate, breathed basketball. For him in a way basketball was life. He had a temper and was not afraid to show it. Basketball was no longer fun but a sense of hardwork and skill. We did a lot in that summer. Mostly consiting of practice, open gyms, and camps. One thing that I like about the …show more content…

IT was one of the nicer camps because we actually were able to play inside. But this camps had a major impact on my athletics all together. We were a couple of games in when I broke my ankle. I was running base line when a girl steped on my foot. My footstayed still but the rest of my body did not. I ended breaking it. I got it checked out by a doctor the next day. As soon as he told me the results I was kind of excited and sad. I was kind of excited because for one I never broke a bone before this and I alwasy wondered what It was like. But I was sad because it mean that there went the rest of my summer with basketballl and some of the up coming season in cross country. All in all my ankle healed just fine and I was ready to go for not only cross country but The up coming basketball season as well. Although the summer was hard, it was nothing compared to the actual season. You see, the summe was for learn hoe to play. In a way it was for easing our way into the system. That way it was not all in your face when the actual season came around, but it was still a total
