Did you know that over two hundred countries participate in noteable track competitions like the Olympics or other world championships? Track and field deserves more attention and commemoration. So many countries participate in this sport and yet it is not considered one of the most popular sports. In this sport, team members can engage in a variety of different events including the mile run, 800 meter, 400 meter, 200 or 100 meter dash, and various hurdle races. Additionally, there are field events that include shot put, discus, long jump, and high jump in middle school teams. Track and field is a very important sport for numerous reasons including great entertainment, building sportsmanship, working hard, and exceptional experiences.

The mile was pretty challenging and I needed the additional motivation from my team members and visitors. We did a lot of practice, which took place on Monday through Thursday for Thornburg Track Team. Effort was put into every practice so that we could perform well for the meets. The team worked very hard and all of the extra encouragement and cheering really made the meets more fun and successful. Sportsmanship was also an important factor when I participated in the Thornburg Track Team. Engaging in challenging activities and supporting our teammates brought us both struggles and confidence. Since we did not know each other very well, it was difficult to build each other up as if were were close friends. However, we still cheered for each other despite the grade difference.
