High school was really fun but in my sophomore year Alyssa had a baby! It finally came true! Brielle was cool for a while but she grew up a little and became a little devil, just like her dad, so when Alyssa and Ryan had their little girl everyone was ecstatic! Alyssa’s little girl’s name is Rosa, after Ryan’s niece who absolutely adores him. Ryan’s niece used to call him almost everyday because he lived in Des Moines in Zack’s house and Rosa missed him. When Alyssa went to the hospital I got pulled out of school, even though I was a sophomore and had a car, we headed straight to Des Moines and didn’t get to come home until three o’clock the next morning! Needless to say I was extremely tired the next day when I went back to school, and did the same thing I did when Brielle was born when I got home from school; I slipped into a temporary coma. I had made friends working at the aquarium and a couple of my friends followed me to Georgia from Florida! I had them over often and I went to their apartments so I didn’t get too lonely. Working at the Georgia Aquarium, I thought I wouldn't have to get the smallest and cheapest apartment I could find, so I found one at the Northside Plaza Apartment Complex, mostly so I could say I lived at the plaza, for $665/month. I spent around $150 in utilities each month and didn’t waste any time. I felt since I lived in the city my life had to be go-go-go! On the first day of school, a seventh grade girl with brown, curly hair, named Haylie, came up to me in the gymnasium to ask me what my name was, and where I had moved from. I told her my name was Annalise, and that I had moved from Moran. Little did I know, this girl would be my best friend for the next six years of my middle and high school career. I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and it’s all I’ve ever known. When I was younger my parents took me on little short trips like, Toronto and Columbus, Ohio. I was young, so I didn’t really remember a lot that was going on or different about the two places. When I got older, I decided I wanted a change in my life but did not know what or where. In September of 2003, I was invited to my cousin’s wedding in Charlotte, North Carolina. I decided to go and when I did, I did not want to return back to Buffalo. Of course, I had to come back to Buffalo because I was only visiting. I had made up in my mind right then, Charlotte, North Carolina was the place for my children and me. I decided to move to Charlotte before Christmas of that year. My experiences were years to remember. I stayed in Charlotte for a total of seven years. During the years I had been living in Charlotte, my most memorable experiences were the weather and the commuting.
As a young child in elementary school, I struggled in the regular classes of language arts and math, and this caused my teachers to put me into Special Education. I recall hearing the regular students call me “stupid” all the time behind my back. When I had my regular classes in Social Studies or Science none of the other students wanted to be my partner in the group projects. I felt like an outcast, and my self-confidence was exceedingly low. However, I knew that I was not the smartest kid, but I was a hard worker. I begged my mom to help me convince the teachers to allow me to to join the regular classes in the 5th grade. Fortunately, my teachers agreed, and in my regular language arts class I was motivated to prove to my teachers, my classmates,
Detroit, Michigan is my hometown and I lived there for eleven years. My parents wanted to get out of the moody and violent environment, because they grew up in Detroit as well. In 2008 half of my family moved to Covington, Georgia. My new life was different, because not only did I have to adapt but I had to look towards the future. In this new environment I had to make new friends and get out of my comfort zone. Honestly moving to Georgia was one of the biggest jumps in my life, because I was in a whole new city and it was really a fresh start. So I had to look out for myself and make sure that I made better decisions than before.
A new year had just arrived. I can still picture January in my mind, the mood was sullen and dark, I could feel the cold reaching my bones, but now I know that was the best feeling I‘d ever had. I had only a few weeks left to start college, which had been my dream since I can remember. My dad had already paid for my tuition, I was so exited I had promised to do my best. Then, I realized there was an obstacle in my way. I knew I needed to make a decision on whether or not keeping my pregnancy, it sounds rough, but it was definitive. I did not want to miss school, so I was definitely not taking this to the last term. I just could not think of myself being prostrated in bed for so long, as an impediment to start school. Never, nothing would make me give up on my dreams, and that was another promise I had made to myself.
High school years are supposed to be a time for fun and exciting events in every adolescent's life. There are parties, ball games, and local after school hangout joints where we can meet. All combined to making high school the most memorable years of any teenage girl?s life. However, my experience in high school took an uneventful turn in tenth grade. My carefree ways had to end and a new wave of responsibility was presented to me. I found out that I was two months pregnant. My thoughts tugged at my conscience, how was I to tell the father of my unborn child? Would my mother support my decision? I had to forget about my partying ways and hanging with my friends. In seventh grade my friend Abbie and I decided to go out for the basketball team. After a week of tryouts we both found our names on the team roster. We were both so ecstatic.
