My sister, mother and I were in L.A for the week on vacation. It was pretty fun with trips to the beach, SpacEx tours, great mountain views from my uncle and aunt’s house, and watching the filming of a children’s TV show (so many cute doggies)! The thing that highlights the end of the trip in quite a bad way, is our unsuccessful attempts at departure. It was about noon, and we had just gotten out of the Uber, and we were met with quite an unpleasant sight. There were people lined up all the way up and down the entrances, for as long as I could see the terminal, which was quite expansive. We got in and found a place to jump into the line. We asked the people around us what was going on. They told us that there was some kind of massive failure …show more content…
We snaked up and down the very large terminal entrance area, tantalizingly close to the doors of the amazingly empty and huge space inside. We finally got into the one door that was open, and where they were letting people in in groups. It was about 45 minutes of nowhere to sit, very hot, nothing to do, waiting. We got in and I instantly felt the AC blasting. We went and got in a mercifully shorter line that the one outside, whose size had not yet dwindled, because of an unceasing flow of flyers. We got in the line for our tickets, handed over our luggage, and were off the …show more content…
At around midnight, I decided I had to sleep, and I scrounged up two sandy beach towels from our luggage. I put one on the floor, and used one as a blanket. It was very uncomfortable, but I was very tired. At this point my mom had tried multiple times to negotiate our ways to the comfy terminal, where carpets were green, and the seats were plenty. She also seemed very wary of staying the night in the airport, but was unsuccessful to persuade ourselves a flight to Indianapolis, which was the original return
“Why don’t you use your locker? You’re going to have back problems before you even graduate”. These are words that are repeated to me daily, almost like clockwork. I carry my twenty-pound backpack, full of papers upon papers from my AP classes. The middle pouch of my backpack houses my book in which I get lost to distract me from my unrelenting stress. The top pouch holds several erasers, foreshadowing the mistakes I will make - and extra lead, to combat and mend these mistakes. Thick, wordy textbooks full of knowledge that has yet to become engraved in my brain, dig the straps of my backpack into my shoulders. This feeling, ironically enough, gives me relief - my potential and future success reside in my folders and on the pages of my notebooks.
It was a murky overcast summer's eve; crisp morsels of rain splashed on the ground vigorously. Sounds of jet engines buzzed in the back of my ear lobes through the torrential downpour. The common sight of the departure time of our flight being delayed yet again caught my eye as we turned the corner towards the gate. Almost an hour later we began to finally line up at the gate to get on the what then seemed massive jet plane. I remember looking out the gigantic floor to ceiling windows at providence airport at the bright blue, red and orange of the jet, so excited to be going on it. Our family carefully chose seats right near the wing emergency exits. I rushed to the window seat, plopped down and buckled my seat belt. I was ready to go to Florida. I barely took up half of the seat, I was 8 or 9, and as a curious kid I was touching nearly anything I could put my hands on. I remember soon after we sat down in the back row on the left of the aircraft the same side as us, I heard a great commotion. A woman at the back was on the phone telling her friend she had drugs and she just took them. Not soon after three men boarded the plane. One had
Moments later, I was in the immigration department and it was like I a tin of sardines. People were standing shoulder to shoulder as the stewards urged everyone to move forward so the process could be quicker and people could get out of the sauna as quick as possible....
Today was the day, the day that my parents and my little sister and I were going to go to Cancun, Mexico. Our flight left at 5:00 am, so we woke up bright and early at 2:00 am. We needed to be there 2 hours earlier and we still had to put our luggage in the car and drive there. We arrive at the Park and Go. We pay them and we get on the shuttle to take us to the airport. We get through security and go to a little cafe. My parents get some coffee and my sister and I get a bagel with cream cheese. “We have to go to gate 12A,” I told them.
Our trip back to Minnesota was one of the worst. Our first flight was behind we would have missed our connecting flight from LA to Minnesota. So we had to wait for about two hours more for a flight to Phoenix and then back to Minnesota. Once we got to Phoenix around nine we had a three hour delay til our flight back to Minnesota. While waiting for our flight back I watched Ride Along. The movie was great and the time flew by. Out flight back home left at midnight and was about a four hour flight to Minnesota. Because of the time change we didn't land until five in the morning. We took a taxi back to the hotel where we had our car parked. We had to brush off all of the snow on the car. We didn't get home until 6:45. Other then the flight home I had a great spring break. One to sure to remember.
On February 21, 2016, I, Deputy John Arnold, went to 11747 West 105th Street South to assist another deputy in reference to a fight in progress.
We had literally been waiting in line for almost an hour and it seems like we had not advanced in that amount of time, not even a step. My legs felt like jelly from being up for such a long amount of time. I felt and heard my stomach growl from not consuming at least a small portion of food. As we were about to give up on the ride and walk out of line, we were called up next.
In hopes to get to the hotel quickly, we left the airport scared to death and hopped onto a h...
I sat back plugged in my headphones into my phone and listened to some music. I meet up with my friends near the check in booth. We sat and waited resting my back against the wall. We then approached the gate during boarding. I searched my pockets swiftly and felt the emptiness on the cotton. I went to the the gate desk and told them my situation
After that, it was only an hour until our flight, so we went to our gate. For forty-five minutes, I watched an episode of The Planet’s Funniest Animals on my IPad. Then, it was finally time to get on the plane!
It seemed like forever before we would finally be on our way, but then before I knew it we were on the airplane and the flight attendant is announcing fasten your seatbelts and prepare for landing into Leonardo da Vinci airport.
“Certainly” as I handed the boarding pass. She also mentioned after that there was some “Technical faults…” with the plane and will be delayed by a few minutes. What kind technical faults? When I stepped into the large neatly organized white polished plane, I never thought something would go wrong I sat in my seat. I looked up and saw a clock reading nine thirty-three. The rest of the passengers boarded. Shortly after the stewards started to demonstrate what to do in the event of a plane crash one of them were shaken up, I was oblivious due the fact I had seen this procedure multiple times I could see through them, just as if they were transparent. The plane started to back up and then it turned onto the run way. We started to gain speed up and started to gain altitude. I was going to Australia to meet with business partners. I annually had done this trip. I put my head back and shut my eyes so I could kill time.
“Flight 208 to Los Angeles is now boarding. Section N you may now take your seats”. You looked down at your carry-on bag to make sure you have everything packed up, even though you took nothing out, and headed toward the flight attendant and handed her your ticket. As your walking through the tunnel, the sound of the planes jets put just enough pressure on your body, causing your pulse to increase. “Why are you nervous, you been on planes before”, you ask yourself. You shake your head and start to inhale and before you could finish getting your lungs to the maximum capacity they could hold, a man wearing a white shirt twice his size and jeans that also seemed
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
Staying one week in San Francisco was pleasant, in the fact that I visited my cousins, but my end destination was Hong Kong. We took a night flight and stayed a couple hours at the Taiwan airport to transfer to another airplane. I was frightened that the airplane would take off without us, but luckily nothing happened. Inside the airplane I was so excited, I kept asking my annoyed mom and grandma “Are we there yet.” In my memory, the view of the airplane, the night of Hong Kong was gorgeous and spectacular.
