Personal Narrative: Angle Cats

Angle Cats Spring of 2005 my family gained a new kitten. It sounds like it should be a happy story but, it starts sad. A little girl's tears at a yard sale. Neighbours dogs barking. Cartoons with a talking dog. A father with a brown bag of beer. My mom and I went to the animal shelter in Hamilton to get cat food. As she paid, I walked to the room with that had many cats. As I crouched before the door a calico cat came up to the door. She had a pink collar and sea green eyes. The calico coloring was limited to her head and tail. The rest of her body was white as snow without a drop of color anywhere. I slid my fingers through the door and scratched her face. She began to purr as soon as I touched her. I quickly said goodbye and followed my mom out of the shelter. The small cat was the only thing I could think of for days. I kept asking my mom for a new cat. I told her I was in love without even knowing the cats name. A few days later my mom finally agreed to go look at the cat. We went back to the shelter and I ran to the door. The lady at the shelter explained to me how to act around the shelter cats and let us in. The calico came up to me as if she remembered me. I scooped her up and she put her head against my neck. Her collar said her name was Itty Bitty. We kept her name and brought her home that day. She got along with the …show more content…

The kitten was tan with bright blue eyes. He did not like being hugged tight but liked it better than the paper bag. We named the kitten Scooby-Doo after the carton dog. Scooby was not like Itty Bitty and quickly became my mom’s cat. We still have Scooby and he is now a lazy cat that sleeps all day and hunts at night. He puts himself to bed by getting under the blankets and squeaks if you touch him. He still does not like to be held but will put up with it for short periods of time.
