We were finally getting married. I had never wanted a big wedding so we planned for a Justice of the Peace to officiate. Honestly, I didn’t care if family was there or not, but my mom had other ideas. We had decided on June 1st, Sebastian would be turning a year old a few weeks later. I was not dealing well with returning to work and we had settled on our date so I could quit my job and stay home with him but still allow both of us to have health insurance. We were to marry at the historic Independence courthouse. Mom invited the extended family and a few of her friends and of course Jerry’s mother flew up for the occasion. As we shopped around, I realized it was going to be ridiculous to spend that kind of money on a cake for about twenty people. I found a lady who had a website with a few pictures of cakes she had made, her prices were reasonable and she said she would work with me on what kind of cake I had wanted. I had this amazing recipe for a tiramisu cake, it was for a huge wedding cake, so it would need to be scaled down, but that was easy to do.
