I never imagined writing would be such a difficult thing. Keeping deadlines with specific word counts up-to-date, and still being expected to keep those “creative juices” flowing, I swear it should be filed under Cruel and Unusual Punishment. But, even with the constant, leering gaze of my Creative Writing teacher over my shoulder I still find absolute enjoyment in creating a world out of nothing with memorable characters that leave a lasting impression. Sitting behind a desk hunched over in front of a computer, silently berating myself for my future back problems, I smile as a character’s personality grows and worlds of mystery and fascination are created. This career option as an assessment employer for the child protective services could possibly be a long-term career option. Although, I do not believe I would want this as my long-term career goal. Choosing to work directly out of college would also allow myself to gain experience within the field which would improve the possibility of getting a better job or getting into graduate school. If I was hired and I did accept the position within five years my goal would be to continue working while attending school to further mu education. I would continue to work to gain more experience as well as helping me get through school by paying off my tuition. I would not leave this job until I graduate and had another job lined up.
How does an artist create a painting? He or she cannot simply look at a canvas and a picture appear. The artist must be equipped with proper tools to create a masterpiece: paint and brushes. The same can be said about writers. Writers are not born with the knowledge of writing an attractive paper. They must be given tools of writing and shown how to utilize them. Artists and writers without proper tools will be nothing more than blank canvases and empty pages. I used to be a blank canvas, but a teacher gave me the tools I needed, and now I am a polished portrait.
Although many will argue that great writing will require time and practice, opponents claim that great writing is like a puzzle which means one can put the pieces together to create an astonishing puzzle. This was the case when I was a 10th grade. As a tyro, I didn’t know much about writing elements and styles. Fortunately, one of my English teachers, Mrs. Roberson, change my outlook on writing. She taught me countless techniques. From that point, I started reading books to increase my knowledge and vocabulary. This was an incredibly wondrous experience for me. Since I was little I have always known that I did not want a desk job. I have always loved using my hands to build things or to solve problems. But I didn’t like the idea of a construction job, or standing in a plant and watching things go down an assembly line. I wanted something that would keep me on my toes, as in different every day, and allowed me to do something that I could see the result of my work soon after. I just couldn’t find the right job; nothing sounded good to me. That was until one day my dad needed help with some wiring in an extension we were doing to my house. Each writer establishes their own writing process. For some, writing may come naturally and is fairly easy to pick up on, while others may struggle with writing. Fortunately, I feel as if writing comes naturally to me. As a benefit, my dad is an English teacher-- which means I have been practicing my writing and grammar skills from a young age. Included with the many hours of writing practice, I have secured many skills that contribute to my writing ability.
I really haven't been writing this years at all but i've been writing on some journal entries that ask me all different questions on different stuff. Only reason why is because i haven't really been there for the writing because i came to the school almost beginning of april and since then we haven't really wrote anything and i just got suspended like 2 weeks ago and so ya i really haven't been there for nothing.
My writing journey actually begins in Spanish, not English. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1994, and Spanish was my mother tongue. I took some English classes when I was four and I had picked up a few words here and there (apple, oddly enough, being the one that stands out the most in my memory) but I did not learn English until I moved to the United States when I was five. Learning English as a second language meant that I struggled to catch up to my peers, but I pulled it off.
As I sit here and ponder over the last semester, I smile remembering what my thoughts were before I started. I was excited thinking about joining this semester, noticing that I had English 111 as one of my courses. This will be a breeze I thought. Writing and I go together hand in hand well, and I bet this will be one of my favorite courses that I’ll ace with flying colors. I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I think that was because I didn’t realize what all goes into writing. I have always been homeschooled and never had to write very many essays, although I loved writing. It all changed when I joined this semester and got to write three entirely different essays. I remember almost being in tears, looking at the highlights, when my first essay came back. I smile now, realizing that I never realized all the small little details that are easily overlooked that goes into writing. I don’t think I could have gotten through this semester without “The Little Sea Gull” handbook and the patience and help of Mrs. Wisdom.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
This course has taught me many things about writing and also a lot about confidence in my own skill as a writer. I was not looking forward to this class in the beginning of this semester, but I am really glad that I took it. It has been a great learning experience to take this class.

There are many different types of events that shape who we are as writers and how we view literacy. Reading and writing is viewed as a chore among a number of people because of bad experiences they had when they were first starting to read and write. In my experience reading and writing has always been something to rejoice, not renounce, and that is because I have had positive memories about them.
For hundreds of years it has been recognized that not all learning takes place in the classroom. Students mental and social development also occurs outside the classroom in athletics, music, and clubs. No matter what club the student is involved in, he/she fosters organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking, financing, and evaluation skills. A club gives students the opportunity to combine components of their mental and social development into personal action. These students have opportunities to test their skills and talents in different situations. Students will always work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals and implement those plans. Doing so, students could develop and maintain working relationships and friendships. The soul of a club is the students, but it also consists of many things that happen behind the scenes.
Reading and writing have been and always will be a part of my life. At a very young age I used to love the both of them. I would write stories about monsters and fantasy worlds and I would read about them too. Slowly as I grew older my ability to write so creatively just withered away. Writing soon became only for school purposes. My love for reading continued, but I was no longer reading about the fantasy worlds with unicorns and fairies, instead I became keen to reading crime fiction. Although I had a love for it, it no longer became something I would do daily, it is now done whenever I have the chance to.
In a professional environment, there are many supervisors who have little to no writing experience before they start a management position. This largely attributed to employees of companies maintaining a high work ethic for many years and proving they have what it takes to take over these leading roles (Mabrito, 1997). When these employees started their jobs they likely did not have the expectation that they would move to such an important role in the company so furthering their education after high school was not a priority. This can cause a poor representation of the company from the less than professional writing skills a person may have. For these businesses, it would be beneficial to actively seek out employees who they see potential in and send them to further their writing
