Personal Motivation In Psychology

In psychological terms Motivation is defined as a feature that induces an organism to act towards a desired goal and elicits certain goal-directed behaviors (Motivation, n.d.). Simply put motivation is nothing but a desire for us to want something to be better than it is now and is the very reason for us to engage in a particular behavior. For example hunger is a motivation that induces a desire in us to eat and by eating we have achieved success over hunger. Motivation is the driving force for many of us take a step towards achieving something that we desire and is the basis for any success that we want in life.
I have often wondered what motivates me to get up every morning and start my day. For this I give the reason that if I don’t, then I will be farther away from achieving my goal of being a successful career woman and a successful homemaker. For my own personal satisfaction and sense of achievement I want to get back to the career that I left behind a few years ago. And for the success of my family life I want to be a successful homemaker. I don’t believe in procrastinating and this I feel is the motivation for me to get most of my work done on time.
When I was in school, getting good grades was a motivation for me to finish my class assignments and study my notes daily. I wanted to get good grades because I wanted to get into a good college and earn a college degree. The motivating factor to earning a college degree was to get into a job right after graduation as I wanted to help support my family financially. I also wanted to be financially well settled and lead a comfortable life. At school there was this teacher who stressed on the students using only English to converse in the class and would punish us if we failed to...

...her difficult and I found it extremely difficult. I didn’t know where to start and where to end. Having enrolled in the course I did not just want to leave it mid-way. At those times of extreme self-doubt, I am motivated by the multitude of possibilities higher education can offer me. It can offer me a job in the field that I left behind or since I am pursuing an entirely new area of education, it offers me the possibility of a new type of career. Whatever it is, at present I am motivated to complete what I set out as it would enable me to achieve what I have always dreamed about. Being an independent woman with a successful career.
Hence I can say confidently that there is not just one person or thing that motivates me but depending on the situation that I am in, I find my motivation in a lot of different things and different ways to enable me to cross the bridge.
