The Learning Journal is a tool for self-reflection on the learning process. In addition to completing directed tasks, you should use the Learning Journal to document your activities, record problems you may have encountered and to draft answers for Discussion Forums and Assignments. The Learning Journal should be updated regularly (on a weekly basis), as the learning journals will be assessed by your instructor as part of your Final Grade.
Your learning journal entry must be a reflective statement that considers the following questions:
1. Describe what you did. This does not mean that you copy and paste from what you have posted or the assignments you have prepared. You need to describe what you did and how you did it.
Since we didn’t have

After that I took some much needed time off to spend with my grandsons and celebrated a friend’s birthday Sunday. It was good because Monday March 5th was one year since my husband passed away. I asked to leave early so I could go and visit my late husband’s grave. I haven’t been to the graveyard since November because the weather has been so cold and nasty, I was disappointed to see the ground was washing away and it made me so sad. I couldn’t stay very long since I spent the entire time crying. However, I have a friend of mine that offered to help repair the ground and plant some grass …show more content…
Thank you for fostering such a supportive caring environment! It has made me feel like I though college should be people sharing their ideas with one another. 4. Describe your feelings and attitudes
I am always very open to learning about other cultures and I very much enjoyed our discussion assignment this week. Communicating with people from other cultures can prove to be a difficult task and one that we should study since our world is so global now.
I am writing this on Wednesday since I like to start on new work on Thursday, so I have only had two comments on my post. I would take it that adding pictures is not something this class appreciates and I will refrain from doing so in future posts.
5. Describe what you learned
As always I learn a little more about each culture, I think the thing that will stay with me the most is the “that is difficult” comment that Margaret posted about because honestly, I need to remember how hard being direct can be for some people, I have found that frustrating in my journey here at the university not receiving any feedback and a poor grade is very disappointing for
... so many things about interacting with others and about understanding different cultures, Things are different everywhere you do because someone was raised that way or because they believe in something different than you. Culture isn’t all about the way someone lives or the society that they live in. Culture is about things you own, the way you act, where you live and your lifestyle. I now look at people with a different culture than me with so much more respect. I don’t know what they have gone through or what kind of culture they grew up with, life is harder in other places then it is America. I understand the differences in the way people live and see things. The culture and diversity in the world is amazing. Overall I loved this class, I learned things that I never could have imagined learning, I am impressed with the book and the class discussions that we have.
-Throughout my coursework I have learned the importance of interacting effectively with people from other cultures. We as educators need to teach our students to understand the world from other cultural perspectives, being that each day
The experiences gained through years of education has taught me extensively not only about the world around me, but also who I am as a person and how I have grown through the years. These experiences have shown me many aspects of myself such as my talents and affinities towards certain subjects of studies, as well as the weaknesses I have towards other fields of research. What I have learned is my talents with logical and mathematical thinking have led me to pursue and challenge myself with subjects following mathematics and the different sciences. However, my affinity towards logical thinking has also caused my ability in liberal arts such as English and the different types of arts to fall to the wayside and become much more difficult for me to comprehend. This issue has lead me to find that learning by both practicing the problems as well as seeing written explanations has lead me to see how I learn and process information.
For the study, writing a reflective learning journal helps me: bring together theory and practice and yield better understanding of the course material while for my development as a successful and independent learner, it helps me: See my strength and weakness
I built upon my cross-cultural experiences as I befriended exchange students from Belgium, Japan, and Korea. Each time, the friendships enriched my appreciation and understanding of not only my own culture, but the very concept of culture. What falls under the cultural blanket can vary from person to person, and I found it to be very interesting that while one person could claim lan...
This paper will explore the role of the director in modeling reflective practice as a tool to move a program towards programmatic excellence. Childcare directors are closely connected to all aspects of the childcare program; they supervise and support the teachers and staff and they work with the children and families. They are responsible for the program administration. They are the program manager and the center leader. This paper will suggest ways to incorporate more reflective practice into our programs at Kennedy Heights Community Center. The literature on self-reflective practice will be explored and analyzed to support the paper’s thesis of reflective practice as a tool on the path to excellence. The limitations and weaknesses of reflective practice will also be explored.
Upon reflecting on this course, I have realized the importance of brain breaks. I would love to incorporate more of these into my day to day routines. When I do these, the students love them, and they are able to refocus for the rest of the lesson, or the next activity. I also would like to start making sure that all of my students love and belonging needs are met. In kindergarten, we do a lot of activities to work together and to build that classroom family, but I would like to make sure that they all feel valued and their needs are truly being met. As for content, I want to ensure that all of the learning needs are being met by using more differentiation, such as small groups into my day to day lessons as well.
Self-Assessment and Reflection In the last seven weeks, I had the opportunity to look back and analyze the events that have shaped my life. This was a unique experience where I was emotionally comfortable enough to look back on life. I was able to objectively revisit many events that were often buried and too painful to face. I was free from the turmoil of emotional fears of failure, anger, regret and loneliness, which often clouded my perception. .
This discussion board post will focus on communication with people of other cultures that is both effective and appropriate. I will explain my level of intercultural competence with my reasoning for my level of competence. Then I will describe how often I communicate with people of other cultures.
Write your essay for step 3 in the box on the next page. The box will extend as needed.
What do you think the best way to adopt a new environment that has a different culture for a foreigner? …………. Well, I think it’s to develop social relationships with members of the new culture, and in order to have a better communication with them, it’s not enough just speak their language fluent, but we also have to know the personality of the country and the way that people talking. Today I want to share some of my culture shock experiences with you, and I hope those experiences can help you to have a little closer look of the personality of Americans and the way that people talking.
The dictionaries ' definition of learning and education is that learning is through experience, study, or by being taught, but education is through the systematic receiving of instruction. Over time, I have come to see that education sometimes is the same as learning. This, however, is a view I have always taken. I haven 't always viewed them as the same thing. For many years, I would stubbornly fight education, even though I love and have always loved learning, when told to do something I would become stubborn and make assignments ten times harder than it should have been. This struggle in my life greatly influenced not only how I view education and learning but also my assumptions and expectations with them.
One of the main courses of this semester was to learn various organizational behaviors that are conducted in real business environment. By learning this course, we could understand our future colleagues and ourselves better. Throughout the semester, every week Ashley Hughes gave us an interesting lecture about different topics of oranisational behaviors. Along with the weekly lectures we also had a group presentation that gave us the opportunity to apply the lessons and techniques learnt in our professional and personal lives.During the course of this semester, Organizational Behavior has highlighted numerous topics, which concentrated on investigating the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization and how their behaviour affect the performance of the organizations for the purpose of applying such technique towards improving an individual’s or an organization's working effectiveness (Jontymagicman, 2012). In this reflection paper, I will discuss the essential areas of organizational behavior: the influence of motivation, managing change and individual learning at an organization.
Everyone has a different view on how they learn and learning itself. First starting in EXP 105, my understanding of learning was new knowledge and becoming wiser. Taking EXP 105 has truly increased my knowledge of what learning is and the process of it. The most important thing I have learned about learning is that you observe the world around you, make sure it is understandable, and figure out the right way to respond. Learning also provides critical thinking skills. Everyone have different ways of learning and those ways are based on four different learning patterns. The four different types of learning patterns are Sequence, Precision, Technical Reasoning, and Confluence. Learning patterns are very helpful when it comes to everyday life, school work, and your job. Knowing your learning patterns and which ones you should use make
Furthermore, I have acquired a set of personal and professional gains as a result of completing the thesis that includes the development of a critical mindset, improvement of my writing and time management skills and enhancement of the level of my
