When I think of graduating from college, I see someone who is 22-years old. When I was 22 years old, I had seen more things than I care to remember. I had just left the Air Force where I was a medic in the first Gulf War. I spent most of my time in the Labor and Delivery unit of the base hospital. I loved assisting with the birth of a child. My time spent in the Labor and Delivery unit was the most wonderful and rewarding experience.
Before I left the Air Force, I started taking college courses working toward a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. My dream was to obtain a Master of Nursing degree in Midwifery. As a Certified Nurse Midwife I could care for pregnant women and help them bring their babies into this world.
Complete My Degree
When I left the military and returned to Austin, I continued to pursue a Nursing degree, but got side-tracked in college life. That would be the party side of college life. I was not focused on my studies.
I began a rewarding career by chance. I sold long distance telephone service for MCI as a part-time job. Over a very short period of time I was being promoted again and again. Eventually, I gave up on college since it did not seem I needed a degree to get ahead. While I learned a great deal through on-the-job training, I never felt like I had a complete understanding of my field. I had stumbled into a career in Information Technology and despite my lack of formal training, I continued to prove myself and to grow my career.
I have since learned that I enjoy the Information Technology field very much and would like to complete my degree in Business/Information Systems rather than nursing.
Learn About Business and Information Technology
Despite my progression to a senior level in my field, there are still aspects of my field that I do not fully understand. I have excelled as a Business Systems Analyst for many years; however, I hope to learn more about business to help me better understand the needs of my business partners. I also hope to learn more about the many facets of Information Technology so I can begin to move toward strategic solutions development.
Feel Better About Myself
I have always felt terrible about leaving college. I believe it was the right thing to do at the time since I was not taking it seriously but I have always regretted quitting.
It's hard for me to say where I'll be in the years to come, already my life has strayed from the path I once thought it would follow. However, that doesn't change my motivation or determination to reach and excel at my personal goals. My whole life I've endured a system that dictated what should be important to me, and while it's helped me learn the practical skills I need outside of an academic setting, I have a passion to grow further from what's expected of me, and so with much enthusiasm I look forward to attending college in which I hope to achieve more by constantly learning and expanding my personal knowledge.
One of my goals I want to accomplish is to get the highest degree possible in college. I want to major in nursing and the highest degree in nursing is a doctorate level degree. Even though I have to get my bachelor’s and master’s degree first, I will accomplish my goal and get my doctorates. I am currently focusing on school and getting excellent grade so I can get into a good college. I also occasionally look up medical things and, learn more things about my future career on the internet. This will help me prepare for what I have to do and what my expectations are being a Neonatal Nurse.
I became a nurse in 1992. I had graduated high school in 1989 and discovered that I lacked a vision of the profession I would be involved in over the course of my adult life. I was involved in the pursuit of a career of teaching music to high school children based upon a passion for performing arts as a teen aged student. I discovered that I enjoyed performing as a trumpet player, but I did not trul...
Once becoming an RN I plan on getting my BSN and am contemplating getting my master’s degree as well and becoming a nurse practitioner. There are many options in the nursing field so I can change jobs within the field if I desire.
The path I have taken toward obtaining my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management, and Economics, with a concentration in Marketing, has been different than I expected when I first started college. I started at Brooklyn College at 17-years-old and frankly, I wasn’t ready for it. I struggled to balance an awkward schedule of classes and inconsistent study habits. I never felt completely comfortable there and after two years of performing poorly, I enrolled at Kingsborough Community College. I viewed it as a new start and seized the opportunity. I decided to major in Business Administration; I made the Dean’s List, and saw my grades improve dramatically. After completing 74 total credits, I decided I was ready to return to a four-year-college. I initially considered returning to Brooklyn College but at this time my grandmother had become ill. I applied to the College of Staten Island which was near her home and would make it possible for me to help her out with whatever she needed and attend school locally. This worked out great for my first semester. I carried a 3.47 GPA and decided to major in Business, with a concentration in Marketing. At this time, I was working part-time while in school. But due to certain circumstances, I was forced to obtain a full-time job in addition to other part-time commitment. This made it very difficult for me to enroll in classes as most of the upper-level marketing classes that I needed for graduation were only offered during the day when I would now be working. I enrolled in night and weekend classes for the next two semesters but my grades began to suffer. In the last semester I tried to register at the College of Staten Island, I couldn’t fit the courses I needed into my ever-growing w...
I am about to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington obtaining the BSN degree, and this event marks a milestone in my personal and professional life. The RN to BSN program has allowed me to push my abilities to the limits and I have probed myself to see if I can achieve anything that I put my mind and efforts to. For example, I was able to work full time, study, be a mother and wife, all at the same time. I have enhanced my knowledge and skills, I improved myself; I have become a professional nurse and a better human being. Now I firmly believe that I can accomplish my goal and become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be
Many people tend to set goals. They can set goals for their personal life, academics, or even for their professional lives. You can literally set a goal for pretty much anything you can imagine. I believe that people should set goals, they help you stay focused and want to do better for the future. Goals change all of the time though, because of a lot of different reasons, maybe you found that one thing just really is not what you want to do with your life, so you find something else to do. To me that is just how life is, my goals will most likely change as I am getting older and trying to find what I want to do with the rest of my life.
...ressful. Not everyone graduates from college, so when or if you do, it’s such a great feeling. Knowing that you have an education if not anything else is one of the best feelings. Knowing that there are so many opportunities out there for you just because you put in the time and effort. You get out what you put in. College is expensive, takes a long time, requires a lot of dedication, and there seems to never be any relaxation or break time. It's all about balancing out your schedule, getting enough sleep and taking care of your business. You have to take it upon yourself to work hard in class and apply for scholarships. The price you pay to attend college, you don’t choose, but you do choose what you do with your education. Everyone’s situation is different, but that doesn’t make college impossible. With some hard work and motivation, college is definitely possible.
One of the biggest “life changers” I have ever experienced is college. You get to experience a whole new atmosphere, meet tons of new people, and you get to live a new life. Going into college, most of the time, kids are nervous and scared for what their future. I was one of those students. Going into college I was quite nervous and I didn’t know what to expect. Often, I would hear how difficult college is and how much different it is than high school. I was not prepared to constantly be studying or doing homework because I was not used to doing those things in high school. I wasn’t too fond of being away from my home and my family as well, which is another reason I was skeptical about going off to college. From move in day to now, college has been such a pleasant surprise for me and I am loving it. My college writing course, General Studies Writing, or GSW, has also helped me learn quite a bit, but it could also be improved to help students learn even more than before. Overall, my college experience has been a great one and I couldn’t ask for a better start to a new life.
Ethics is basically a set of moral values and principles of one’s own or an organization. It is diagnosticating between right and wrong matter. Ethics is derived from a Greek word ‘ethos’ which means character or habits. ”Ethics is not definable, it is not implementable, because it is not conscious, it involves not only our thinking, but also our feeling.(Setzar 1709-1784)”.However, ethical values could be different among different individuals or personalities as everyone has their own precedence in life and also they have different cultures, religion , nation and nurturing according to which they prioritize their values. Moreover, these ethical values play a vast role in attaining certain goals in life either personal or professional. Goal is basically a result or achievement that one tends to acquire in life. But one shouldn’t earn his/ her goal on the cost of their ethical values. I believe that everyone should have specific plans to achieve desired goals in life but one should always emphasize on his/her own ethical values while making these plans to achieve goals. Many people however set a certain time limit to fetch their goal. I have various goals in my life that I wish to accomplish in my life. First of all I would like to discuss my personal goals. Personal goals are really important in one’s life to have a happy present and pleasant future. Personal goals are what one wants to see himself/ herself in person. My Personal goals are firstly to fulfill all the promises that I have made with my family. My family is in first place for me. I want to make my family proud of me. My father is my ideal as he is a very kind person a very good husband, a very good son and the best father on this earth. I really want to be like my...
Research a life goal Although I have many goals in life, these two stick out to me the most. They stick out in every decision I make and they help me make good decisions. What I want most in life is to become a pharmacist and to create a family with someone I love. I want the family most importantly because I was raised in a very tight Greek family.
My explanation of life goals are about high school goals, college goals, career goals, and personal goals. I’m going to explain about what I want to do and achieve in high school, and college. Then I will tell u about what type of career I want when I grow up and my personal life. For starters I would like to graduate from high school and from college. Then I want to grow up and get a career is something that I really like. Then my personal life I think I would like to have kids someday.
In conclusion, during the time I worked at House of Zog I learn the basic ideas of a business. Based on observations I obtain in-depth information about the important fundamentals that drive a business to success. My goal is to receive a degree in business administration and be successful when having a business of my own. I am studying business, learning how business works, it’s a priority I keep in my mind. It’s a long term goal to obtain my sixty units transfer to a four-year university and earn a degree in business. From my experience I’ve learn an important value, you can only learn from failure. Success is obtained thought failure, and rocks we stumble upon our path.
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
