As a student at the University of Phoenix three personal goals that I want to achieve are, first is to complete my bachelor of science in business management in 2 years. Next is to become a better writer. Throughout junior college, writing has always been my weakest point and with the amount of writing assignments required at University of Phoenix this needs to be one of my top goals. Finally is to complete every course with no less than a B letter grade. With making the decision to return to school and taking on the considerable financial burden, receiving an average grade would be unacceptable to my standards.
While being employed full-time, The University of Phoenix has the rare opportunity for working professionals to finish courses in just 5 weeks. Having such a compressed time schedule for completing degrees will make it possible to complete my bachelor of science in business management in 2 years as long as I do not deviate from the program. I have decided that my number one priority in life is to complete my degree. I do not have other major commitments outside of work that will distract me from my assignments so staying focused on school will be realistic. Though I cannot predict the future, I do not plan on taking any time off during the two years that would result in interrupting my class schedule. With the option of taking CLEP test this will allow me to “test out” of some of the lower-division courses such as communication arts and humanities. Although this will require additional studying outside of my upper-division courses the CLEP test can help eliminate additional courses needed to be taken, so I can stay on track of my 2 year goal.
Writing papers has never been my strongest asset throughout school. I always found myself only writing what was required of me but never trying to improve my writing skills on my own time. In junior college the majority of my classes were math and science with a major in Administration of Justice. The only writing that I had to do was case briefs, which was based on legal research, which did not require any creativity, brainstorming and writing skills, just citing the facts and decisions in a proper format. To become a better writer it will take self-discipline and dedication. Because writing is my weakest point, submitting quality papers will require the most amount of my time by doing research and proofreading.
As I look back into my high school years, I thought I wrote papers well. But then coming into a college environment, my papers were mediocre. By overlooking at my past papers, I found that they were unorganized, sloppy and had bad use of diction. From now on, I will use the tools I learned in English 1100-40 as a foundation for the future papers I intend on writing in college. Following the criteria of organizing ideas so that they flow, impacting the reader with diction and also by being creative, will help become an ideal writer. Following the criteria of staying motivated in short and long term goals, taking responsibility for actions and finally the ability to study well will help me develop into a supreme student.
When writing a paper the process can vary from a few hours to several days. English teachers have several different ways they teach their students how to write as well as the method to use. Knowing the perfect way to prepare to write for a paper takes several years to master. Once you know what method works best for you, writing becomes less stressful. Preparing for the rhetorical analysis paper, I used all the best methods to have a smooth transaction from the begging till the end.
Being able to write an exceptionally good paper is important to me in keeping my “A” for English class. There are so many resources available that can help in identifying and improving our weakest skill areas so we can write a properly structured paper. I was able to find many helpful resources that have helped to improve my skill areas in achieving unity in a paper, improving grammatical errors and expanding my vocabulary, and writing a rhetorical analysis,. Many of my resources come from the internet and some came from our textbook, “The Little Seagull.” These resources have been very beneficial to me and have helped me to better understand the mechanics of a well written paper.
...forget to use articles now and then, I can see that it has improved since the beginning of the semester. I just have to keep practicing exercises and write more so that it becomes automatic. On the contrary, I was consistent with staying focused on my argument and being organized so the reader could follow along easily. I will continue to follow the writing process and put my ideas together before I start writing to write the best I can. I will also be sure to follow a timeline for writing a paper so I would not have to deal with cramming everything in a few days, or even one day. Since I will not have any writing classes in the next two years, to improve my writing I recently subscribed to the economist. I plan to read and summarize their articles to practice my writing, reading, and comprehension skills, at the same this would help prepare me to take the MCAT too.
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be
One simple way to write faster is to just try to not write a perfect paper on the first try. What I mean by this is to just get a first draft done quickly. This way you can just have your paper done and then look at what needs to be improved and perfect it that way. Another simple tip is to split up your paper into steps. So instead of writing a paper all at once in five hours, whi...
My long-term goal is to be a professional skateboarder and make a living off of it . I honestly do see myself as a professional skateboarder because I do work so hard and also because i’m a very motivated person. The kind of work that I would be doing is showing up to lots of contest, demo's so that kids can experience or view what professional skateboarders
Writing has been my most challenging requirement through school. I am not a very experienced writer. I was not required to write much in high school until my last semester. My last semester in high school, about a year and half ago, I took GENR-091 which is the last time I have written a paper longer than one page. That was my most recent writing class; I am rusty to say the least.
There are many things that I hope to accomplish and do when I get older. I want to improve and accomplish different things for myself in my career that I choose, in my material goals, and spiritually. I'm looking at the year of 2009, I will be out of college and be on my feet, hopefully. I have high expectations for myself and hope to accomplish as many of my dreams and goals as I can throughout my life.
I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. So far, I am still trying to figure out my academic goals for college but, I do know for sure that I want to succeed in every single way that I can so I can make a better future for myself. A goal that I made this year is to make the dean’s list every single time, for this I will study so hard for every test, do all of my homework, and ask questions when I have them and maybe even getting a tutor. This challenge will probably be really tough but I believe that I can do it if I put my mind to it, and I tend to be a very determined
All your life growing up, you don 't have to make any big decisions. This all changes senior year when you have to make a decision about what you are going to do with your life after high school. What you choose to do can dictate how you spend your time and money. If you do not make a choice you will not be able to move on towards being a self supporting adult. Decisions are hard to make but essential to keep moving forward.
Ethics is basically a set of moral values and principles of one’s own or an organization. It is diagnosticating between right and wrong matter. Ethics is derived from a Greek word ‘ethos’ which means character or habits. ”Ethics is not definable, it is not implementable, because it is not conscious, it involves not only our thinking, but also our feeling.(Setzar 1709-1784)”.However, ethical values could be different among different individuals or personalities as everyone has their own precedence in life and also they have different cultures, religion , nation and nurturing according to which they prioritize their values. Moreover, these ethical values play a vast role in attaining certain goals in life either personal or professional. Goal is basically a result or achievement that one tends to acquire in life. But one shouldn’t earn his/ her goal on the cost of their ethical values. I believe that everyone should have specific plans to achieve desired goals in life but one should always emphasize on his/her own ethical values while making these plans to achieve goals. Many people however set a certain time limit to fetch their goal. I have various goals in my life that I wish to accomplish in my life. First of all I would like to discuss my personal goals. Personal goals are really important in one’s life to have a happy present and pleasant future. Personal goals are what one wants to see himself/ herself in person. My Personal goals are firstly to fulfill all the promises that I have made with my family. My family is in first place for me. I want to make my family proud of me. My father is my ideal as he is a very kind person a very good husband, a very good son and the best father on this earth. I really want to be like my...
I did not fail any of my classes and instead received good grades for my perseverance. As an immigrant to a new country, my greatest barrier is English. Consequently, I had to go to tutoring and work three times more than native English speaking students. But despite the frustrations, I never allowed myself to give up. I never stopped striving for excellence. I worked very hard and took advantage of extra credit opportunities, even though I was already earning a good grade in the course. My short-term academic goals are graduating from Cosumnes River College in Spring 2019 with an Associate of Science degree. I plan to start my bachelor degree next fall at CSU, Sacramento and graduate in spring 2022. I am motivated to succeed because my degree is not only for me but also the epitome of how far my family has
Each person should have their own goal to make sure that they have reasons to live. Without goals we never aim what we want to do. “if you don’t have a goal in life, you are spending your life running around and not achieving anything for yourself”- Bill Copeland. This quote wants to tell us that in life you will always be on the same stage without having the desire to improve yourself in any manners. Having a goal will motivate you to strive whatever you want to achieve instead of wasting your time do unnecessary things. In this task, I have to explain two types of goals which are personal goals and professional goals. The goals are :
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
