Personal responsibility and accountability are highly valued traits for one to possess. Although it could never be said that life is an easy pursuit, things can be made more simple when people take accountability for his or her behaviors. Often, people engage in behavior that they sometimes are unaware is unhealthy, or unfavorable for them. Personal health covers a wide range of topics. Knowledge of these topics can be used to assist a person in a successful life journey. It currently is also not one of my strong suits, but first I’d like to reflect on the history of my fitness activity or lack thereof. The extent of my fitness experience spans the activity issued during state-mandated school exercises. Generally, my personal fitness has not been a concern of mine. Appropriately, as a youth, I was much more round in my physical appearance. As such, my ratio of muscle to body fat was particularly low. The results of this lifestyle will invariably produce negative effects on one’s health, as it did with mine. Furthermore, this lowered state of fitness originated from a lack of goal setting and exercise in general. When attempting to maintain an exercise routine, certain necessary steps should be taken to ensure success. Consequently, exercising successfully requires implementation of continual small goals.The main reason for the lack of a fitness routine in my life came from a lack of fitness goals. Achieving a high level of functional fitness requires continual work. However, physical fitness is a minor concern on my personal scale. I would much rather focus on the development of positive mental health over the years. Although it would be ideal to gain a statuesque body, the amount of time and dedication to achieving those results are immense. So immense, in fact, that one’s entire lifestyle would become influenced by such a pursuit. Accordingly, my goals include maintaining a comfortable degree of functional fitness while carefully monitoring changes in mental health. Isn’t everyone’s goal in life to be able to achieve something amazing? Better yet what about setting great goals as an individual? Wouldn’t you like to better yourself as a person? As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets”, this simply meaning that a person must be “hungry” and have a great drive to be able to achieve greatness. The feeling of greatness and satisfaction that a person will get from being a healthy, fit individual is unexplainable. Being satisfied with your own body is a very important factor to life itself. People that are healthy are known to live healthy lifestyles as well as to be great in age. There is no negative sides to being healthy, people that are healthy are happy. I plan to take an individual and better them by training them and making them a healthier person. The steps I will go through in order to make this happen are steps such as training the person, making a nutritional plan for them, and being there to support them along the journey. I will be training the person using some fundamentals that have worked for majority of world-class athletes. I plan to use simple bodybuilding tactics as my muscle builder, such as old school techniques that Arnold Schwarzenegger used in the golden ages of the sport itself. As my research has shown, my client and I are both pleased with the “golden era” physiques and we plan to make a healthy/fit body molded like the bodies of that “era”. There are many ways in which the ideal body has been chased over some three thousand years. A common theme in all of this is the desire for physical wellness. This too has been good for business and people like Dr. Oz can be heard frequently endorsing the root of this and the fruit of that. However, if you look around the gym all those mirrors aren't there for you to check on your wellness they are there for you to catch a glimpse of the Weary Heracles; most are at least half way there for they surely do look weary.

During the healthy care self project I have and have not achieved my goal. During this project I learned that things do come up in life and even though you may have a plan and want to follow a regimen you will not always be able to follow it as well as you would like to. A key thing looking back that hindered my achievement towards my goal was life and how busy it can become. When it came to working out in the beginning I was very faithful to it but once I began having assessments in school I began looking at it to what is more important, working out or my grades in school. As a student who is paying for their own schooling, school always seemed more important than. While looking at the provided graph you can see what I did attend the gym faithfully in the beginning of the project but after a few weeks in is when I began to stop attending the gym.

Wellness is defined by Robbins, Powers and Burgess1 in A Wellness Way of Life as an integrated and dynamic level of functioning oriented toward maximizing potential, dependent on self-responsibility. Wellness consists of many different dimensions including achievement in emotional, spiritual, occupational, intellectual, environmental, social, and physical dimensions. Focusing on the physical dimension, it becomes obvious that physical fitness is essential for maximum wellness in men and women. Physical fitness is the capacity of the heart, lungs, blood vessels, and muscles to function at optimal efficiency (Robbins et al, 2002). A few ways to test for physical fitness is to measure cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular endurance, and flexibility. I hypothesize that men will be able to perform at a higher level in the muscular endurance area than women because men are able to develop stronger muscles.
Throughout every person’s life, there will always be moments in time where change will take place. This could range from a variety of events such as changing schools, jobs, or even one’s own home. However, there are some habits that help one stay healthy if they remain consistent. This can consist of altering one’s diet to a healthier one or even enhancing the number hours of sleep one gets per night. Being responsible and organized is an important quality to have; I have learned to be organized as it is helpful not only in school but in outside of the classroom, too. One of my strengths that I have and have been told is that I’m very responsible I know what I need to get done. I like to stay organized as it helpful. While being busy with school and after school activities it is important to keep track of things that need to get done as it helps manage your time. I am also very caring which has shaped me into wanting to go into nursing and in the medical field.
