Personal Essay : The Aspects Of Personality In My Life

976 Words4 Pages
I am one person, but I am multi-faceted. I am very dedicated to the subjects that I am passionate about, but I am always eager to learn new things. I am determined to accomplish, but I am always eager to ask for help. I am focused on the future, but I am always eager to improve the present. My qualities might appear to contradict each other; however, they do not. A coin is never comprised of only the one side facing up, similar to how a person is never only what they appear to be. I hope that you take the desideratum for humanity to explore these complex aspects of personality into account as I delve into the factors that have made me who I am today. I grew up watching PBS, Animal Planet, and other educational television. Nestled in my mother’s lap, I learned about the scientific method, photosynthesis, the effects of introducing invasive species to new environments, and much more. In my school library, I checked out books on tabby cats, pinto horses, how to play soccer, and even encyclopedias; anything that could teach me something new. I have always had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, a desire to understand how and why things work the way they do; this is most likely why I have become ardently interested in psychology and engineering. Many people laugh at the seemingly odd combination, but to me, it makes perfect sense. Psychology is discovering how the mind works in conjunction with the outside world; likewise, engineering is discovering how technology works in conjunction with the outside world. As I grew older, my youthful curiosity turned into a fervent desire to help others; my prior gathering of knowledge opened my naive eyes to the injustices of the world that I recognized I could remedy. Millions of people are fig... ... middle of paper ... ...n being trying to find my place in this world. Sometimes I am messy, but life can be messy when we are all striving to figure out its complexities. We all want to be able to say that we know exactly who we are all of the time, but that is not true. The world is always changing as new issues arise and, along with them, new innovations; thus, we are always changing. We must adapt and never stop pushing ourselves to discover more, create more, and be more. We must never let our hunger for knowledge be satisfied, our compassion for others to diminish, or our devotion to knowledge weaken. As my roommate, I hope you are prepared to take on this responsibility with me. Through homework, tests, projects, jobs, and extracurriculars we must continue to support each other in this educational journey and, together, we can advance towards the future with open arms and open minds.
