Throughout humanity, individuals evolved and adapted to a changing society. People have not always been perfect in their selected field, however, as time progress individuals learn to develop themselves. A common factor that drives success throughout humanity is an individual 's capacity to set goals and strive towards personal development. As we progress through life and become older, individuals tend to realize life only becomes harder, and in the working world; life is not a walk to Elysium. At times it takes more than we anticipated to complete a task. However, the result can be rewarding. Over the past seven weeks, I was given an opportunity to work alongside astounding, intellectual, diligent people at Sector-Wide Health. This internship permitted me the chance to experience what it would be like working in the health care industry, to be a part of the working population. By interning at Sector Wide Health, I was able to reflect on my skills, knowledge, and experience to perform each task to the best of my ability. This internship was my initial real experience in the healthcare world. I was introduced to a fast paced working environment, which required precarious thinking, active engagement, and …show more content…
The modern world revolves around money and to communicate and aid others I need to be very successful and in a more permanent position. I will start off at a low entry job, but will advance into an executive administrator. One day I will be the financial head of a hospital that will help give me the opportunity to help so many people. Every day I work towards attaining this goal by studying, going to school, getting high grades, and interning at various facilities. In the future, I would like to invest in a few stocks with substantial backings and buy a few mutual funds for my family members to assist them in a time of need. Lastly, I would like to have a life insurance policy so that in an emergency I will not be a cause of worry to my loved
“There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs,” was said by motivational speaker and American author Zig Ziglar. This relates to Carol S. Dweck’s article “Brainology” and Sherman Alexie’s essay “Superman and Me.” Ziglar, Dweck, and Alexie all feel that it isn’t easy for someone to become successful. It takes hard work, perseverance, and the want to learn and grow. In Dweck’s article, she stated that someone with a growth mindset would become more successful and knowledgeable than someone with a fixed mindset, which was demonstrated by Alexie in his essay, and by a personal experience of my own.

Winston Churchill once said, “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.” Chapters six through ten have helped me to learn a variety of useful information about myself that I have been able to use regularly. By reading these chapters, I have learned how to have better priority management; learned about myself and my personality type and strong intelligence; and developed learning skills along with an effective note-taking system. This information has had an positive impact on all areas of my life including my personal life; professional life; and educational life.
Although it is obvious that my ability to form and maintain attachments was affected, it is not so obvious to determine the long-term effects. Because early experience does not impact development in a linear way (Sroufe et al., 1999) both history and present circumstances are important (Sroufe, 2005). In fact, Bowlby’s model emphasises that behaviour is a function of an individual’s entire history; therefore change does not erase early experience (Bowlby, 1973). This means that even after significant change, there is a tendency for individuals to return to previous developmental trajectories (Bowlby, 1973). As such, the disruption to my development was merely that, a disruption, and through experience, I have learnt to form attachments again, therefore my development has returned to an adequate stage.
The Human Development’s concepts, theories and so on give me a better understanding to explain why people act in different kind of situation that they have. Make me more appreciate the value of taking Human Development class.
There have been many challenging experiences in my life that have contributed to my personal development. Every day I go through experiences that I believe make me a better person, ranging from being the president of debate club, to public speaking, to handling a problem between my friends. But the most significant experience is the disintegration of the relationship with my father. From this, I learned how to handle my problems in a more intelligent and sophisticated manner. This has been the most impactful experience of my life.
As I sit here and reflect on how my education and work life experiences have prepared me for my future in the workplace; I truly become overwhelmed by the amount of things that I have learned and experienced. Like many others these experiences has influenced, motivated, and driven me to make the choices I have made. The good, the bad and the ugliest of them all have helped me to become the person that I am today.
Taking the time to reflect on one’s career can increase self-awareness and enhance professional development. A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life journey. Therefore, a professional development plan documents one's goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and aspirations. Hence, a professional development plan is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate study to keep track of one’s progression. My primary purpose in writing this developmental project is to describe my educational and professional background as well to explore my personal
Psychology deals with the study of mental processes and a variety of behaviors. In order to fully comprehend ourselves, we need to understand the causes of our behaviors and our outlook on life. Habits and behaviors have positive and negative effects in our life. When we know ourselves and learn about our unique personality, we can develop and pursue goals. Psychology also helps us to understand other people and the differences of people. Gaining this knowledge can improve the relationships and enhance our communication skills. Throughout the psychology course I gained knowledge in various areas, and the topics that impacted me the most included: the introvert, anxiety disorders, stress management, self discipline and how to develop strong relationships.
Personal reflection is when you ask yourself thought provoking questions so that you can develop a deeper level of understanding about yourself (Holdefer). Personal reflection isn’t always the easiest thing to do. You generally have to think about things before you can write about them. There really isn’t a right or wrong answer when it comes to personal reflection. When reflecting you need to consider why you are feeling a certain way or why you did something a certain way. We often just look at the end results of something. With reflection you look at why you took certain steps to get to where you are now. We often use reflection when we are unsure about something, when we feel like we could have done something differently, or when we want
Occasionally the answer to a difficult question is directly in front of us. Intrinsic worth in teaching Character Education should never be a question of what, but rather how to infuse the curriculum to assist students in managing themselves with a degree of respect and fairness we need to see every day. Viewing the front wall in the ELL class room today, I could see the student agreement created August 6, 2013. The agreement is completely student centered and expressed. The teacher is merely a manager of voices and questions to help students think about answers. Every part of the agreement must be a can statement, which takes the words do not out of the equation (Twining, Michelle 2013). The repetition of the words “I Can” help ELLs connect to the phrase and vocabulary.
Working in a tertiary care hospital, with the highest patient turn up and limited resources, was a perplexing situation, however it was very inspiring to see how a little extra effort can greatly benefit a patient. Dealing patients with a variety of complaints helped me boost my clinical knowledge. Through each patient encounter, I was able to modify my clinical approach. During the course of my internship, I found myself as a friend, physician, caregiver, counselor and above all, a human being who tried to listen and understand the distress the patients and their families
