Performance Enhancers

Who really knows what is in these performance enhancing powders? Surely doctors, physicians and trainers know. Everyone should be fully aware of the exact ingredients that are in them and the effects on the body if there are any present. It is well known that if any sort of steroid is abused the drug will cause the user a world of pain and medical issues later. But what about the legal ones? Legal performance enhancers such as, creatine, protein, whey protein and many others have the same results as illegal performance enhancers, but have opposite health effects. The only exception is cortisone.
Interestingly, some people tend to use drugs called diuretics as an “enhancer”. Diuretics were not created for the use of athletes wishing to give themselves an edge, they are in fact used to treat people with heart conditions and high blood pressure. It may be hard for someone to imagine how an athlete can use such a drug to gain a competitive edge. But when someone looks at what the drug actually does, it makes perfect sense. Diuretics are used to decrease body fluids by increasing urine production . This ultimately causes the user to lose any amount of “water weight”. This factor seems to do an amazing job at attracting athletes trying to make weight at the sport they compete in (Diuretics) . For most athletes there are unforeseen risk factors. Most would not think of the possible consequence that come with taking this drug. Possible risk factor include; severe dehydration, seizure, and in the worst cases death. The precautions that athletes should take when using this drug include drinking plenty of fluid, wearing loose fitting clothing, taking regular rest periods, have someone watch for the signs of heat exhaustion, and take note that it has been deemed illegal to use this drug in any sporting event. There are many ways one may take diuretics.
