Introduction: Did you know that the combined total of reparation money spent in the history of the United States is two billion, four hundred sixty-one million, three hundred thousand dollars (2.461,300,000)? My partner and I negate the resolution, which states ‘The U.S. should pay reparations to the people it has hurt in its past, such as African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans. Before we begin our argument, we would like to offer the following definitions: “Pay reparations” is defined by paying reparations to mean “the making of amends for the wrongs done to certain groups of people in the history of the United States.” African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans are defined by hurt ethnic groups in the past to mean slavery, the tribes that Christopher Columbus killed when he first came to the land that would become America, the Chinese Exclusion Act that restricted Chinese immigration into the U.S., and the Mexican Americans that were lynched between the years 1848-1928. …show more content…
