Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to strengthen their commitment to participate in National Women’s Law Center and American Association of University Women Organization. Thesis: Gender pay gap continues to impact working women in today’s society. Women who have the same education and experience as men deserve to be paid the same. By participating in the organizations to help stop the issue of unequal pay can eventually stop gender discrimination. Introduction I. The article The Complex Causes of the Gender Pay Gap written by Barbara Wagner, she shows “Economic research on the gender pay gap has found many reasons for the differences in pay between men and women, including different career and education choices, differences in work experience, and, yes, discrimination. Both male and female managers are equally likely to demonstrate gender bias in hiring and pay” (Wagner, 2015). 1. It has become normal for people to accept that women are receiving less pay than men and that is not acceptable. Wagner includes that point that even female bosses are likely to show biases among genders as well. Due to the fact that the issue has not been resolved, it is normal to discriminate. It will help the society to stop this unacceptable thinking that has becoming our social norm to pay women differently. C. For the women here that are participating to this great cause, the result will help you tremendously, you won’t have to feel underappreciated and get the amount that you deserve, the effort you put into school will be paid off. For the men here in class, you will help out all the women you love and care for, you will be able to help for the women down your generations to come.
