Although tagged with this phrase, Paul Revere was hardly the only rider to deliver the news to the colonists. During the War for American Independence, 78 men were commissioned as general officers into the Continental Army by the Continental Congress. Many of these generals commanded troops with differing levels of competence and success. George Washington is typically seen as most important general, however throughout the war a number of his subordinates were able to distinguish themselves amongst their peers. One such general was Nathanael Greene. At the end of the Revolutionary War, Greene would become Washington’s most important subordinate, as demonstrated by Edward Lengel’s assessment of Greene as “the youngest and most capable of Washington’s generals.” Washington and Greene developed a strong, positive and close relationship between themselves. Greene began his life in the military after having been raised a Quaker. With limited access to literature and knowledge in his younger years, Greene became an avid reader which equipped him with the knowledge necessary to excel as a general during the war. Through his devoted study of military operations, firsthand experience and natural abilities as a soldier, Greene became an excellent military commander. He would become known for his successful southern campaign, during which, he loosened British control of the South and helped lead the war to its climax at Yorktown. Throughout the war, he was involved in a number high profile battles where he built a reputation of being an elite strategist who also understood unconventional warfare, logistics, and the importance of military-civil affairs and had a natural political/social acumen. Although Henry refused to serve on the Constitutional Convention, Madison needed Henry's persuasive ways. Henry had a way to make people agree with his ideas. Even though Henry didn't serve on the Constitutional Convention, he was still present to put in his word. As soon as the meetings opened, Henry began to argue against the Constitution. This argument went on for three weeks. Henry was aware that the new government had to be strong, but felt that the Constitution made the central government too powerful. He thought that the power should lay in the hands of the states. "What right had they [the group that wrote the Constitution] to say 'We the people,' instead We, the States?" he demanded.
Beginning in the 1600s, one of the main concepts for England, France, and Spain at the time was mercantilism. These were the three most powerful and blooming countries at the time. Starting from the earliest years as the late 1500s, and continuing on, all three countries were soon to battle for claim of the new land. Only one country could triumph. Revolutions are usually described as “radical” events. A “radical” event is defined as one that greatly changes the political, cultural, social, and/or economic nature of a society. I believe that the American Revolution was a radical event that dramatically changed our society. There were many impacts to the changes such as slavery, primogeniture, the Articles of Confederation, republican motherhood, and government. This was the time in life, that we as America gained our independence from Britain. The American Revolution is what shaped our world to become what it is today.
Great generals are crucial to the prospering of a nation. They impart unity to a country and defend against any enemy it may encounter. There are two wars showcasing such brilliant generals in American history: the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. In one, the English colonists on the continent of North America broke off from their mother country to form their own. In the other, the nation of the United States, having been firmly established at that point, was fighting against itself over the issue of slavery. In both instances, the people needed strong, brave, and selfless generals to lead them through their trials. Generals George Washington of the Revolutionary War and Ulysses Grant of the Civil War are excellent exemplars of these qualities. While both generals were successful in their respective wars and are two of the greatest generals of American history, George Washington was superior to Ulysses Grant in several ways, including early successes, war strategies, effectiveness, and leadership.
Paul Revere, one of the hero’s of the American Revolution, was born in Boston in late 1734. We don’t know the exact day he was born, but we do know he was baptized January 1, 1735. In childhood, Paul dressed like all the other boys with shirts with big sleeves and pants that stopped just below the knees. Boys wore knee buckles to keep their pant legs tight, and it also helped keep their stockings up. When Paul wasn’t doing chores he would play with his siblings, go to church, and spend time in his father’s shop. Paul’s dad, Mr.Revere, was a silversmith and goldsmith and he made all sorts of things like teapots,sugar bowls, trays, jewelry, shoe buckles, and thimbles.
The American Revolution marked the divorce of the British Empire and its one of the most valued colonies. Behind the independence that America had fought so hard for, there emerged a diverging society that was eager to embrace new doctrines. The ideals in the revolution that motivated the people to fight for freedom continued to influence American society well beyond the colonial period. For example, the ideas borrowed from John Locke about the natural rights of man was extended in an unsuccessful effort to include women and slaves. The creation of state governments and the search for a national government were the first steps that Americans took to experiment with their own system. Expansion, postwar depression as well as the new distribution of land were all evidence that pointed to the gradual maturing of the economic system. Although America was fast on its way to becoming a strong and powerful nation, the underlying issues brought about by the Revolution remained an important part in the social, political and economical developments that in some instances contradicted revolutionary principles in the period from 1775-1800.
"One if by land, two if by sea"- the supposed famous words spoken by Paul Revere to Colonel William Conant, an American soldier stationed in the steeple of the North Church in Boston, waiting to send the signal of the proposed path of the British invasion on April 18, 1775 to Paul Revere. According to the legend, Paul Revere was to be placed across the Boston Bay from the North Church waiting for the signal from Colonel Conant. The Colonel was to hang one lantern in the steeple of the church if the British showed signs of an invasion on land, or display two lanterns in the spire if evidence existed a sea invasion by the British. Once Paul Revere saw the two signal lanterns hanging in the steeple, signaling the imminent approach by sea of the British forces, he began his ride from Charlestown to Lexington to Concord, warning the citizens of these towns of an approaching British invasion. So began the famed "midnight ride of Paul Revere," a ride which warned the colonists of a forthcoming revolution that would shape the future of America.
Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine were the infrastructures are the Revolutionary movement against their father country, Great Britain. Patrick Henry was a Governor from Virginia, who became notorious for his presence as a persuasive orator in the Virginia House of Burgess. One of the most intricate works he utilized to get Congress on board for war spoke to the Convention on March 23, 1775, Speech to the Virginia Convention. He offered a proposition to the Convention as he saw them tilting towards a diplomatic approach but Henry saw that war was inevitable and they needed to bear down for the struggle. In contrast, Thomas Paine was blatant with his purpose for writing The Crisis, No. 1. Paine was a gun hoe political activist with a niche for radial pieces. His audience differed from Henry, who was appealing to Politicians and had to evoke the logical side to augment credibility amongst the Convention. Paine had to render the spirits of soldiers beaten and weary from the extended periods of war and brutal winter. Markedly, the soldiers endured bouts of depression provoked by a sense of defeat and loss of time with their families. Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine knew they had to conjure fighting spirits in the people, who have allowed domination by a country thousands of miles away. Henry and Paine had a proclivity to move people with graphic and thought-provoking works bursting with rhetoric and figurative language that awakened the souls of their diverse audiences to ignite the war for freedom.
James Monroe was the fourth president of the United States. James became president at the best time because it was the beginning of the Era of good feelings. America felt good for not losing the war and there was a new generation born. James Monroe was the last president of the American Revolution. He fought in a few battles and one was with George Washington at the Battle of Trenton. James was presidency was one of the best, he had John Quincy Adams as his Secretary of State. JQ was one of the best people for this job he has traveled almost everywhere. He has lived in four different countries while following his dad around during the American Revolution. Most of the presidency James M. did not do much for the Country JQ did most of everything.

The British and the 13 colonies went to war against each other so that 13 colonies could try and win over their freedom. Abigail Adams sent a letter to her husband to try and convince the writers to include women's equal rights. There were many hopes that people had while the American Revolution was present in the 1770’s to the early 1780’s. How much change did the American Revolution cause? The American Revolution radically changed three areas of life; social, political, and economics.
