According to this theory employees felt low self-esteem for using the restroom shower for refreshing them self in the same area in which business visitor’s would also associate. In order to increase motivation among Patagonia’s employees, the company should provide a visitor’s lounge, a private office for their employees in which to use for their refreshment. According to a study conducted showed that, disengaged workers outnumber engaged workers by a pretty significant margin. Only 45 percent of managers and supervisors and 23 percent of people at other levels qualify as "engaged," meaning they feel enthusiastic, empowered, inspired, and confident in their jobs. The biggest influence on employee engagement is dissatisfaction with an immediate supervisor. People who have gripes with their bosses have an 80 percent chance of not being engaged at work, the study found (Desmarais, n.d.). When considering motivation there are three issues that are important to employees which are; respect, a sense of accomplishment, and recognition. Yes, money is important but it is not as critical as these other components. If I was managing a team of Patagonia employees to keep them motivated I would 1) involve them in all aspect of the company 2) Communicate regularly with progress of the company 3) Celebrate each individual on a job well done. By doing this it will be in the best interest for the company to concentrate in improving the employee’s skill by minimizing their weakness.
