Among those 48 participants, 40 percent felt drowsy after taking Benedryl, 29% - after taking Claritin and 31% after taking Zyrtec. The numbers indicate that all three medicines can cause drowsiness. In a reference to Table #1, there were 26 participants who experienced headache after taking studied anti-allergy medications. That is only 22% of the 120 participants. 10 participants who experienced headache took Benadryl, 9 took Claritin and 7 - Zyrtec. The numbers indicate similarities among Benedryl, Claritin and Zyrtec. Another significant side effect that was reported according to Table #1 is dry mouth. Approximately 58% of all participants observed moderate dryness of the mouth. Participants who took Benadryl and showed signs of dry mouth represent 33%, 38% from Claritin, and 29% used Zyrtec.
