Research Question 1: Do the citizenry really know the importance participating in community development processes?
Table 2 is a presentation of results of the responses to statements of items 1 through 4, intended to elicit level of citizenry awareness. Given the responses to the said statements, it was observed that even though some of the respondents are aware of the importance of community members’ participation in the community development process, a larger percentage (precisely 59%) is still very ignorant of the importance of their role in the process. Secondly, the percentage distribution connotes that 90.8% of the respondents agreed with the statement of item 2. In the third instance, whereas 51.9% agrees that participation is a practice that develops community members’ capabilities to improve their own lives and that of their community, 4.6% disagreed and as much as 43.5% were undecided in their response to the statement. It is evident that those who disagreed with the statement together with those who were not quite sure what to make of the statement forms 48.1% of the community members. A consideration of these high percentage vis-à-vis research findings submitting that participation is a practice that develops people's capabilities to improve their own lives; that it is an instrument of improvement that is capable of undermining the related vices of ignorance, indolence and class-conflict; and that direct participation of local people in local affairs is an essential means for public education, without which democracy and individual liberty cannot function (Nelson and Wright, 1995; Timothy, 2000; Tosun & Timothy, 2003) is indicative of a high level of ignorance, among community members, of the import of community partic...

In the case of the situation in Dallas the community would be working together to end poverty, secure health care for their, and better education for their children, that will ultimately lead to a more enriched community. I believe that with better education; not just for the children but for the parents as well, positive support, a renewed mindset, accountability, responsibility, family management/budgeting training, decreased benefits, and better wages, families can gain the independence they need to independently support their families and be able to depend less on some of the public goods (services like food stamps, TANF, Medicaid, etc..) provided to them by government services. That's not to say that these non-rival public goods are bad because individuals may find themselves in an emergency situation that my cause them to have to need those types of services. However, there is nothing wrong with creating sustainability within your household so you don't have to gain a sense of dependability on government
As an individual within a greater community, I know that I am just one piece to the whole. Each individual person within a community makes up one part of the entire thing. It is each individual’s actions that make that community what it is. In every community that I am in, I am an active member who cares about each member. I want the best for my community and will do whatever I can to make it a positive atmosphere for everyone. Community is such an important aspect in life, and everyone should be able to have the chance to experience
Participation is defined as one’s involvement in life and social situations, and includes interpersonal interactions and involvement in relationships, major life areas, and community, social, and civic life3.Community participation is one of the most important elements of stroke rehabilitation. Perceived participation in community activities represents an individual’s perception of satisfaction with his or her involvement in life situations. Many people with stroke have a low level of satisfaction with community reintegration after they are discharged from the hospital and return to the community4.
Community involvement is encouraged and vital. Whenever we are looking to make a critical decision we seek out community involvement, and hold several community meetings which allow us to gain a better understanding of our community’s sentiment.
Activities and philosophies that advocate for the connecting of communities with socially sentient beliefs and actions is what have come to be referred to as civic engagement. They are thus individual or collective actions aimed at addressing issues that are deemed to be of public concern. They can be manifested in many ways including; public service, civil activity, service-learning, crusading and advocacy to mention but a few as the list is endless.
The entire community plays an essential role in the growth and development of children within our community. As a school leader, building an inclusive school culture that is open and friendly to all stakeholders using a variety of effective methods is crucial. There is no magic formula to incorporating a positive school culture, much depends on the leadership of the campus. The leadership on campus cultivates the climate providing support and respect for everyone invested in the student’s education.
Supporting respondents is a priority for their success. While attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Academic Success and Engaged Citizenship has been the main two reasons why I was able to have optimal success thus far. While living in FAR my freshman year, I interacted countless times with not only my immediate floor community, but also communities that were in my area such as PAR. Activities included tea times, solango, movie viewings and open discussions about what we could do to become well-rounded individuals and students. Being engaged in these activities, I was able to understand and engage in conversation with peers to enhance my academic success and evaluate resources that would be available for me utilize around campus
