Running late, going around like a mad man trying to find just one of them you think to yourself why is this so hard. Classes are about to start and you can’t be late again. You finally find it the last one around and you pull your car in. You can’t help but think why there is not more parking in Morgantown. One of the largest problems that students face is the sheer lack of parking in the Morgantown area. The other problem is that the parking that we do has to be paid by the hour making the cost of the parking large for long term use. This is a problem that affects not only the WVU students but also the residents of Morgantown who also need places to park. The solution to this problem is to build parking garages on the spot where parking lots …show more content…
I am sure that everyone here had to worry that they would not get out of class in time added more time to their meter before it ran out. This problem causes many student to worry more about the parking then the class that they are in. Unlike the building of parking garages this problem has a very easy fix. All of the meters, in the parking lots, should offer options from one hour of parking all the way to 24 hours for one fixed rate. An example of this would be to charge five dollars for a person to park for 24 hours. This would get rid of the worry that students have when driving to class. This not only helps the students but also is a benefit to the many people who come to stay in Morgantown either for work of to visit family. They can park in lots for the whole night and not have to worry about getting five tickets while they sleep. The other payment problem that we have here in Morgantown is that many of the lots cost different amounts of money. Take for example the lots behind Parana which only cost seventy-five cents per hour. Then you have the mountain lair parking garage which cost two dollars and fifty cents per hour. These inconsistencies make parking frustrating for all the people who have to use it. The reason that there are these differences is based on how close the lots are to the center of campus. The lack of parking is an issue that can be solved with the building of parking garage. Also, the small price changes and time extensions are easy problems that can be fixed. The fixing of these issues will have major impacts for the whole city of Morgantown. The parking issue that has presented itself for this city came from to many people in to small of a city. This problem is one that has to be taken head on before more damage can be done with the addition of more apartments. All of the students and people who call this city home would agree that the parking problem is one that has plagued this city for too long. It’s time for some change so that no one has to be worried about how they are going to drive to class. The real question is what will you do about this
The most noticeable inconvenience of driving in Miami is traffic congestion. In fact, because the highways are cluttered with a significant amount of vehicles carpooling is encouraged. For this purpose, high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes were formed. Each weekday, a simple twenty-minute drive turns into an eternal wait for forward progress. With each minute that goes by cars advance less than twenty feet. And while the traffic may open up in some areas, in its entirety I-95 remains congested during the morning and evening hours, as seen in the image where cars on the South Florida Highways line up bumper-to-bumper. The cause for such highway clutter varies, but it is interesting to note the difficulty in explaining highway driving conditions. It is uncertain as to whether the accidents cause traffic congestion or the traffic congestion causes accidents. Either way, the main roads and highways commuters take to work are crowded with drivers. Furthermore, I-95 passes through several commercial districts in the lower Miami area. Many large trucks and commercial vehicles, as well as passenger vehicles, drive to work at these commercial areas. The weekday traffic congestions on the Miami roadways are, in large part, a major inconvenience to commuters, all with intent to arrive early to work.
If you blink, you’ll miss it. That’s how easily Waldorf, Maryland—a city of nearly twenty-six thousand residents ("Waldorf, Maryland") is driven through. There are many shopping centers and restaurants, as well as continuous construction to provide more of the same. This caters to the median age range of 32.8 ("Waldorf, Maryland"), however it does not provide for the needs of the city’s young adults. Growing up in Waldorf, I’ve experienced that beyond shopping, walking through neighborhoods, and taking in a movie; there is very little else offered here for those leaving or graduated from high school. There should be $12,000 allocated to building more entertainment facilities for Waldorf’s youth because this will increase city revenue and foster social growth as a way to revitalize the city and reduce juvenile delinquency.
...ce to become independent but also creates additional jobs for teachers. Corresponding to the new teachers being hired, they need to be able to generate good ideas. Usually, that help comes from references and resources on the internet. With that said, all classrooms in every building on the campus should be fully up to date with new technologies such as projectors and the latest Windows® software. Having such software makes the teachers’ life and students learning experience more enjoyable. Finally, to put a cherry on top of making Camden County College one of the best educational institutes would be to have more parking. Inconvenient is one word that comes to mind. A parking garage can help eliminate the stress about finding a parking spot and making it to class on time. All in all, accessible parking is another great way to make this an optimal learning environment.
So, with all of that being said, Detroit needs a societal change. Some might say it’s impossible, one group therapy session for 800,000 people, but something needs to change or society will continue do dive into a spiral that will further destroy the schooling system and eradicate any chance of a better future for Detroit. Just one third of all kids in Detroit are graduating high school, many of them joining gangs or taking the opportunity to make money as soon as they can in order to help their families survive. To reiterate, government funds need to be cut, or the government needs to be stricter in regards to who it is given to such as drug tests and weekly work requirements. It is not a solution to all of Detroit’s issues, but will surely attract teachers and educated bodies to the once restless city that is Detroit, Michigan.
College Avenue in downtown State College divides Penn State’s campus (University Park) from the town. Walking down these sidewalks demonstrates the difference between these two with shops and restaurants on one side and classroom buildings, dormito...
A higher fee would be charged to non-residents to utilize the parking lots, which will help pay for taxes that the town residents pay on the lots. The residents of the beach town would be unhappy with this decision because it makes it much harder for them to find parking for the beach. Despite that this would please the other communities because it will give them better access to the beach. They may not like the higher parking fees but the access to the beach may outweigh that downfall.
The original intent of street development in our country appeared to be for the legitimate reasons of postal service and agricultural shipping routes. Not until the automobile industry and economic opportunists got involved did the transportation system in America start to change. The system of buses and streetcars in the cities appeared to be functioning reasonably well. The theory of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” was not applied here. The auto industry convinced numerous cities to rid their streets of the streetcars and cut back on bus transportation. Overall results were good, for the auto industry. Urban centers started to lose large portions of their downtown populations to urban flight out of the city. The stereotypical suburban style living be...
Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which

As skateboarding evolved, it was once something kids do in their free time, later became a prospering sport. This started many new changes to our local cities. “No skateboarding” signs are being posted places that skateboarders would go to practice. Architects are finding new ways to redesign structures like benches and handrails in the city, in order to lower the abundance of skateboarder in an area. All these changes have resulted in a good amount of money spent redoing everything to prevent skateboarding, but nothing is being done to give skateboarders a safe place to skate. For young teens whose only transportation is a skateboard, they can only travel so far, and skateparks are not close enough. To eliminate the amount of skateboarders in heavily populated areas, I propose that cities invest more money into building skateparks so skateboarders have a safe place to practice the sport.
Here on the east coast, we have Baltimore, MD and many surrounding neighborhoods. Currently, I live just five to ten minutes away from the city in the respectable working class district. On my way to class at the University of Baltimore, I usually avoid the highway due to high traffic and drive through local and back roads. Here, I can see distinct changes occurring from how far or close I am to my home. When I get closer to the city, there is an apparent existence of poverty. Usually there are no single homes, and apartments are side by side with some potentially burned through. The city also contains more litter along the streets as well as numerous potholes and bumps on the road. There are many people who loiter in front of corner stores and side shops. Land use is different because there are less living organisms such as trees and grass. Instead, cities are filled with many buildings to provide jobs for people of society. In addition, there is a large emphasis placed on public transportation in the city. Because driving can become difficult in the city, many people choose to take public transportation. The convenience of MTA allows individuals to get to many places within the city, but it is difficult to get far from the city. There’s also an abundance of law enforcement in the city due to higher crime-rate. While driving through the city, you may see
There needs to be additional parking on campus made for those visiting the campus and also for students, faculty already has reserved parking; however the limited amount of parking on campus is forcing students and visitors to reserved faculty lots. Our school is limited in funding for certain projects such adding additional parking to solve the parking problem on campus. The student body should take responsibility for the raising of these funds to build additional parking on campus. The rising sophomore class should organize fund raising events to build additional parking on campus.
In college, attendance is crucial to students’ success. Being late to class can result in having less time to take a test or missing fundamental concepts that may be discussed in a classroom. Students must take responsibility by arriving on time; however, limited parking spaces and other transportation problems at many universities can cause students to be late which can result in poor academic performance. The University of Texas at San Antonio, one of most populous cities in Texas, has 29,000 enrolled students (UTSA . . .). During peak hours, one must be timely to find a parking space; many students find themselves driving in circles while hoping to find someone else leaving the campus and others wait for a shuttle bus that has a reputation of arriving late. Due to transportation problems, some students may feel unmotivated to study in the library or go to class regularly. Therefore, the University of Texas at San Antonio should improve student transportation because doing so could increase students’ academic performance.
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis. The official home page of OU parking and transportation services is a source to consider for exploring the problem.
Time management is one of the most crucial factors to college success for every student in college. Firstly, while living on campus, time usually isn’t an issue to students because they live on school grounds. There are many advantages that come with time and one of them is getting to class on time. However, this is actually the opposite for commuters because getting to class on time is quite a struggle. They have to struggle to wake up earlier than usual in order to use the public transportation. Students living on campus also have more access to on-site facilities because they don’t have to worry about going home so there is no time limit on how long they occupy these areas. An example is staying in the library because this is where you can get help from tutors on subjects you are struggling with. Also, they can use the writing center for as long as it is open without worrying about time. In contrast, commuters are limited to the use of these facilities because they have to take time into consideration while staying at the library or work...
