It is an exciting thought to have been able to travel to different places throughout your lifetime. One country that has always sounded like an interesting vacation spot to me is Europe. The most commonly visited places in Europe are Paris, London, and Rome. The one place that stands out to me the most is Paris, France. Not only have I heard wonderful reviews about France, but I have also heard real life experiences from a group of students who went to my high school that visited Europe. The three best features of France, from what I can understand, would be the fantastic food, the soothing music and the informationally packed cultural facts. The food in Paris, France is said to be the best food in the world, according to the many stories I have heard from my former classmates. One restaurant that stands out to me the most is “Frenchies”. This great restaurant only has 26 seats in the dinning room, so it is very difficult to receive reservations. The chef Gregory Marchand is the best chef in all of Europe, according to multiple online reviews. Although Frenchies is hard to get into, it would be worth it. Reviews read “A delightful evening with great food” and “Creative french dishes”. …show more content…
I have always seen on the television, through movies and T.V shows where there was street music playing in Paris and it has always been interesting to me. One musical act that I found very interesting based on videos that I watched is the “Street Organ Grinder.” There is a man singing while cranking an organ. Another street music act that I would like to hear is a group called “Cabaret Slave”. They are a group of 8 men, all playing different instruments while singing. The last person I would like to see playing street music is David Viniteki. David is an “amazing street violinist”, according to the video I watched. His music is enjoyed by many
The city of Syracuse has many opportunities to offer its citizens. It is imperative to know what opportunities are available in order to get the most out of life in Central New York.
The thought of traveling sounds so fun, interesting and spontaneous. The two places I hope to travel to the most are Puerto Rico and Germany. I would like to travel to Puerto Rico because I would love to learn more about the place I was descended from. My reasoning for wanting to travel to Germany is because it’s outside the U.S. I have never been to another country, and I’m curious to see how different it is from here. I also picked two places that are very different from each other, so I could have a total different experience on each trip. These two places have some similarities, but they are more different then not. Overall, I would just love to explore and see a place that is so different from the customs, traditions,
Disney world, Paris, Australia, Italy; all amazing places I’m sure, but I’ve never been. Although there is one place I have been to; it was none other than Blackpool Pleasure Beach!
In a country containing so much diversity and history, it is practically impossible to locate one city which embodies American diversity. A colony started by the French was
“ The Big Little City,” also commonly know as the city of Pittsburgh, is one of the largest cites in the state of Pennsylvania. With over 144 square kilometers of land area, and approximately seven square kilometers of surface water (Pittsburgh Pennsylvania), the city of Pittsburgh is large by anyone’s standard. The city, which is located in western Pennsylvania, has a very diverse geography which sets it apart from many other cities in the United States. Pittsburgh and its suburbs are known for steep hillsides covered with buildings, streets which have steps for sidewalks, and sidewalks which are named streets. From the highest point in Allegheny County, 1,401 feet at River Hill in Forward Township, to the 710 foot normal pool level of the Ohio River at the Point in Pittsburgh, and down to the 682 foot elevation on the banks of the Ohio as it exits the County in the west, the elevation varies by a bit more than 700 feet (Allegheny). Other locations may have greater relief, but they are not as heavily urbanized; other cities may be more densely built, but they will tend to be on gentler terrain than the city of Pittsburgh.
From the early ages during grade school, it was always taught that Jamestown was the first city in America. That had not been entirely true as Saint Augustine, is the oldest town in the contiguous United States. The Atlantic World played a role in the founding, development, and existence of this beautiful city. Saint Augustine has gone through a lot to be the city it is today. It had been involved in battles of the Indians, English, the French (known as the Francais), and the Spanish (known as the Espanoles). Saint Augustine, Florida had been largely affected by the Atlantic World. By using the Atlantic Ocean European countries could scout out this town, explore what this area offered, help modernize and Christianize the Natives living there,
France, formally called the French Republic, has played a major role in Western Europe history. It has been a consistent power for centuries. It was one of the original countries of the European Union, and has been a dominant factor in global trade. France has also been a driving force in the Common Market (CM), the European Economic Community (EEC), now called the European Union (EU), and is a permanent member of the United Nations.
This paper will discuss the many unique aspects of Oakland, California. Divided into five major parts, Oakland is a very diverse city. The five major parts include: Downtown Oakland which is located in the heart of the city, East Oakland which consists of the majority of the city, West Oakland, North Oakland, and the Oakland hills where the terrain is quite different from other parts of the city. While many may perceive the population to mainly consist of African Americans and Whites, there is a significant growing population of Latinos, and Asians. The topics covered in this paper will shed light on the city of Oakland itself, and discuss the unique city that it is. I will also give my personal experience and perception on the city, after living there for 16 years of my life.
Sainte Chapelle, built in April of 1248, in Paris, France was an architectural innovation within the Gothic style of architecture. Within the gothic style there are distinct attributes that define it, these being; a light and airy interior space, flying buttresses, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, and a grand tall design (fig 2)¬¬¬¬. Evolving from the Romanesque style the Gothic pushes towards the sky in a more freeing and uplifting space. Romanesque is known for features such as; large towers, forms in decoration, sturdy piers, thick walls, and overall massive qualities (Fig 1). This feeling of airiness is achieved through many innovations that lead to a more open design within Gothic cathedrals (Fig 2). Sacred space within the cathedrals had a lot of angles, planes, and a strong contrast between light and shadows. The sanctuary of Sainte Chapelle is a sacred place because it demonstrates requirements for the design of sacred space through its manipulation of light, spatial arrangement, and structure.
Once upon a time there was an American man named Jerry Mulligan who lived in Paris. When he was discharged from the army he decided to become a painter and continue to live in Paris so he could just paint and study art. Paris is a place that a painter or artist is inspired. This is why Jerry loves it so much. Jerry lives 2 floors above a café in a little cramped apartment. But he is not complaining, he is lighthearted and fun. Jerry is popular with the children on the block because he gives them American Bubble Gum. Adam Cook is one of Jerry's very good friends in Paris. He is currently unemployed and keeps winning scholarships to stay overseas. Though, he is not doing much with any of them.
Vacations are breathtaking ! There is nothing more that I could use right now more than an exhilarating, yet peaceful getaway. If I had the opportunity to take a vacation anywhere outside of the United States, I would choose to visit Costa Rica. I would choose Costa Rica, because I have always heard tales of how alluring the tropical rainforest is that surrounds the terrain of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is known for its incredible beaches, majestic mountains, and rich culture.
Like an enormous living museum, Mexico City provides an extraordinary showplace for the thousands of years of human cultural achievement that Mexico has attained. It ranks as one of the world's great capitals and is a must for anyone craving to understand Mexico's complex past, its fast-paced present, and its ever challenging future. The size and grandeur of the city are staggering. It is not only the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere, but, by some accounts, has also become the largest city in the world. Before we look at present day Mexico City, let us look into it deep and storied past.
When you associate anything with New York City it is usually the extraordinary buildings that pierce the sky or the congested sidewalks with people desperate to shop in the famous stores in which celebrities dwell. Even with my short visit there I found myself lost within the Big Apple. The voices of the never-ending attractions call out and envelop you in their awe. The streets are filled with an atmosphere that is like a young child on a shopping spree in a candy store. Although your feet swelter from the continuous walking, you find yourself pressing on with the yearning to discover the 'New York Experience'.
In the words of Giuseppe Verdi, “You may have the universe if I may have Italy” (Brainyquote.com). Italy is one of the top hotspots for vacation, and there is a plethora of reasons why. Immediately upon arriving, you can smell the aroma of fresh, home-made foods. The beauty of the architecture in even the average buildings is overwhelming. The culture is unique and fascinating; unlike anything you will ever see anywhere else. There are so many places you could visit in Italy, you could spend a lifetime there, and it would never be enough. Rome, Tuscany, Pompeii, Pisa, Florence, and Venice are must-sees, to name just a handful. (http://www.kids-world-travel-guide.com) Italy is in essence, a paradise unlike any other, that everyone should have the privilege of enjoying. (pathos)
