Video games will turn thirty-eight in 2010. The industry the started with Pong is now a 10 billion dollar industry. These days, video games have become extremely popular, especially amongst children. Games of violent content are what children today like to play. Though some people say that it is a good way to relieve anger, others say it is desensitizing the youth. My presentation shows the risk parents take if they don’t control the type of games their children play as well as the amount of time that they play. Though it is intended to be more for parents, it can also serve a purpose for any one that has a loved one found in this situation. This presentation persuades the audience into realizing the risk there is when violent video games are played excessively by identification of one’s self, facts and a call to action.

The approach I took was to show the audience the influence that media has on them as adults first. I accomplished this by showing different products that are advertised daily. I used sound effects to make the audience feel like they were just bombarded with ads. By demonstrating all these products the audience will realize that if adults are influenced by what they see daily and give in to the advertisements then with more reason children could be influenced as well.

The presentation starts with a black and white the picture of the earth and a small sentence talking about the influence media as on people. The purpose of this, as well as the black background, is so that the audience sees that media influence on people is not a very good thing. The black and white colors serve as dramatic attention grabbers, especially the picture of the earth. When one thinks of the earth one usually sees a beautiful, colorful p...

...lls the audience how the youth is the future and that adults should not want to drain their morality or desensitize them to violence. In the background there is a picture of children from various heritages smiling and looking down on the audience. This should serve as a reminder to the audience that children are going up and adults are going down thus make them want to raise them up as best as they can.

My hope is that by the end of the presentation the audience will be a little bit more aware about this controversial issue that many neglect. Perhaps it could have been more affective if I would of shown crimes that have happened due to video game play. Also, if I were to use more logos than ethos it could have improve the effectiveness. Overall I think that the audience will get the message and be a little more cautious from now on to the games their children play.
