Which Paper Towels Has The Best Absorbency?

To determine which paper towel has the greatest absorbency. Paper towels were first introduced for the Scott Paper Company of Philadelphia to help prevent the spread of colds from cloth towels in bathrooms (Corkhill & Seder 2008). Paper towels are constructed of giant molecules consisting of smaller molecules of cellulose fibers (Brown 2013). The smaller molecules are made up of sugar molecules, which is the key to the absorption of paper towels.
Literature Review
There are multiple brands with each brand having different types of paper towels that vary in price that are sold in stores. Consumer Reports rated Bounty has the top paper towel for absorbency,

Threat reduction to internal validity
By using a purchased gallon of water ensures that the same water is used for each paper towel. By thoroughly drying the funnel and graduated cylinder each time helps ensure the exact measurement. Using the exact same squeezing technique helps ensure that one wasn’t squeezed harder than the other.
Hypothesis
The hypothesis of this experiment is that Bounty will be the most absorbent based on others reporting their own experiments of paper towels.

The Home-brand paper towels was proven to be more absorbent as opposed to the Kleenex brand of paper towels as more water was able to be retained in a smaller area which is evident in the results as the Kleenex paper towels had absorbed 0.5mL of water in a larger area, measuring an average diameter of 6.93cm as compared to the Home-brand paper towel which had a wet patch measuring an average diameter of 4.93cm.
